Is it true that the oil capacity of a 2024 Mustang GT 5.0 is 10 quarts?

Drain. Change filter. Add ~9 quarts. Run engine. Stop engine. Wait a minute. Check level and top off. Done.

:)

That is true
That's wild, never thought a 5.0 would require that much oil 😆. I've had two previous 5.0 mustangs, 1988 LX and a 1995, never used that much oil. What's the difference, if anybody knows?

The modern 5.0 needs a lot of oil. The variable timing and all that runs on oil pressure. Also there is quite a bit of oil running through the oil cooler which I don't think the 80s-90s 5.0s had.

Well it depends on who you ask. Just had my Ford Performance Street Pack Suspension upgrade and had them change the oil while they had the car. I prefer AMSOIL and gave them 10 quarts of Fully synthetic 5W30. Checked the oil the next morning and was 1/2 quart low. Went to dealership and asked why because I gave you 10 qts. Their computers say the 2024 GT takes 9 1/2 qts. I looked at the screen and it says 9.5. They gave me my half full quart back and I went home and topped her off. I swear I’ve seen the spec listed as 10 quarts. But can’t remember where. I’m putting in 10. If they changed the spec they should send us new dip sticks. It’s crazy that full is now half full on my stick. I asked the service writer if Ford has a dip stick mod kit. He actually started to look it up. So………

That is weird, I just looked at mine day after I purchased it and it looked like about 1/2 quart low. Thanks for the info.

It just blew me away about the amount of oil it requires. I just came from having a 2020 BMW M340i with a turbo and it only took 6 quarts. So, I was just double checking with y'all that have one of these newer 5.0's

that's logical. 10 qts seems like a lot, but the Coyotes have required "extra" oil right from the start.
