Yep...same behavior, same frustration. For whatever reason it seems to be worse if audio is already playing when it connects. I can sometimes go to Phones in settings - click the bluetooth option then click the CarPlay option and it starts working.

I love my convertible. My wife and I can carry on a conversation on the highway if we have the windows up too. The only drawback is you have to be careful not to get a sunburn. Road noise is minimal.

Yes. There are Red, yellow, purple, green, etc buttons on the main unit. Those indicate the frequency and technology used (Security+ etc). Red is very common and what I used to have at my last house. Had no issues with the programming of the buttons.

I have had this similar system on a few cars. It can be a little finicky. It should work on the Craftsman red button door with no problem. I usually press the original remote several times in a row for a couple of seconds each time to get it to recognize the codes.
