Correct Torque on Gorilla Small Diamter Lug Nuts

I have tires mounted on my new Velgen Classic5 V2 wheels and plan to put them on my 2024 GT this spring. I have the Gorilla small diameter lug nuts from cj pony parts (part#WHLLN16). They are 3/4 vs factory 13/16.

I know factory lug nut torque is 150 ft lbs. Do I still torque these small diameter lug nuts to 150 ft lbs?

I searched and found a few threads with confusion on this topic. Just wanting to verify.

I'd check with Velgen and Gorillas for their recommendations. Otherwise, I'd use the one in the manual.

I suspect because the stud size has not changed, the factory specification (150 lb-ft, 204 nM) will be used.

As others have stated 150 ft. lbs. If an aftermarket company is making a product that is unable to meet factory specs. said product would be a fail.

I suppose you could check with the manufacture to be sure. I would expect they will confirm factory spec. of 150 ft. lbs. As stated above anything less would be a fail in my opinion.

So I have the exact same set up, I spoke with Gorilla about this and they said 125# tops. I have been running this setup for the past year and have periodically checked the torque and no issues.

Velgan will tell you the same - 120 to 125. I would NOT torque to 150 with the smaller lug, but some do. If it striped or broke, thats going to be an expensive day. I kept my torque wrench in the garage and checked it from time to time just to satisfy my concern.

I see you had an earlier thread on this topic. It appears you are using the splined lug nuts and I am using standard type. Was the quote from Gorilla and Velgen of 125 ft lbs max only for the spline design, or for the smaller diameter design in general?

I spoke to both, Gorilla and Velgan, both said 120 t0 125. Gorilla specifically to the spline at 125. If you have a standard hex lug nut I would think you would be OK with the 150. There was no way I could feel comfortable torquing the small spline to 150 and the Gorilla tech said "do not torque to 150".

I have emailed this question to velgen and gorilla to ask, quoting the specific cj pony parts part number. Assuming I'll hear from them early next week.
