Has anyone taking off the front struts of a DH with the HP? And has anyone switched them with an aftermarket coilover set up.
I am asking because I am trying to get an idea on how the factory assembly is made for a DH with the HP. I believe my front shock has become damaged on the driver side. It squeaks every time I go over anything bumpy and also there seems to be rattle/tapping noise coming from behind the firewall on the left side at the same time of the squeaking and it is annoying me. I have changed the endlinks and sway bar thinking that could be the issue. And it did improve but then the noise came back and is constant. I'm not sure if the rattle is due to vibrations from the bad shock or not.
Today I lifted the car up, took the wheel off, and used a jack to see if I could compress and decompress the shock to produce a noise and look for any play in the shock, endlink, control arm or bearing. There was no play in any components or no loose bolts. However, I did get it to produce a noise. If anyone has a general idea on how the assembly goes or picture, I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to fix it myself if the set up is not complicated and I can order the parts from ford.
