A few weeks ago I had a message displayed across my dash, a box stating Engineering Test Mode, which stayed displayed until I shut off the car and started again.
Context: I drove four miles, shut the car off when I got to a notoriously long red light which was further prolonged by a train coming through the intersection. It was going to be a >7 min stop so I shut the engine and eventually electrical off. Upon restart the ETM box was displayed with info that I can’t interpret.
Anyone else ever experience this or am I the lucky real world test mule for Ford?

I got it once after a fuel stop (refill) while on a road trip, I didn’t scroll though and tbh i don’t remember if i restarted to get it to clear or not. I seem to think there is a post on here somewhere that may show how to active the mode (something about holding a button during start - i think), so not sure if I accidentally activated it or not. Is it an ā€˜easy’ way to get codes if one doesn’t have a ā€˜reader’?

That came up on my car a couple of weeks ago. No idea how it launched. Shut the car off and restarted and it went away.

Almost curious if it’s update related but i think i’d have thought we’d have heard about it more if it was. Kinda like after x update this happens and restart clears the message/mode, after y update drive modes are disabled until restart. But again i’d have thought more would have said something.

Can we get some input from @Ford Motor Company on this one? I’d love to give feedback on how they can make this good car a great car

Engineering test modes have been put into vehicles for some time now through secret inputs. This mode is likely for testing telematics and doing log dumps. Mostly informational and nothing special.
