Now that I have my car and understand a bit better how the custom driving modes work, I was wondering what everyone else enjoys.
Obviously the car defaults to the "normal" drive mode at startup. For everyday driving, do you guys just leave that alone, or do you switch to a custom mode of your choice? If you have a custom mode you like to use, what settings do you prefer?
At the moment, I've settled on a custom mode which is essentially normal mode, suspension and steering with the Track mode cluster. I then have my favourite button tied to track exhaust mode which I tend to use more often than I should admit. Curious what configuration others are using.

Mine is not daily driver, so when I get the chance, usually sport mode track exhaust. I have a custom mode saved with normal track exhaust, and normal sport exhaust for those times wife tags along. (Car sickness) She doesn't tag along on "spirited" drivesšŸ˜‰ also favorite button set up with quiet exhaust just in case...

Iā€™d say 90% of the time Iā€™m using sport mode during the drive. If i do an early departure or late arrival home, Iā€™ll drop to quiet mode exhaust. I prefer the A10 shifting in sport.

I have grown to appreciate the sport gauge setup with tire psi in the center.

Get in car, hit start button, listen to galloping noise, double tap mode button, double tap lane assist, push in clutch and start - quite like the Sport setting on the car all round

Have setup my "star" button to switch the exhaust to quiet so I don't have to go through settings to do it.

On startup I flick that to keep it quiet till I'm down the road then switch it sport mode most of the time. I do like the normal cluster just cause it's easier to see how fast I'm going.

This thing can get away from you, have barely used 4th gear so far but have only done 150km of local driving - I'm avoiding chip sealed roads and freeways till I get PPF on it.

Yeah I should probably switch mine around. I have my "star" button set to track exhaust and the normal exhaust mode on the custom driving mode. I should change it to sport or track in the custom mode, and then just have the star button for switching to quiet.

Custom mode, Sport dash with normal steering and track exhaust, cause you know, its the car's music. The kids like it when it roars.

Interesting that so many of you use quiet mode. I have mine in track 98% of the time.

I have my custom setting set up with Sports Mode for steering/suspension, track mode exhaust, and SVT gauges. My favourite button is track mode exhaust and I usually press that just before I hit the lane assist button twice.

I generally use the normal setting when driving to and from work but will switch to my custom setting if I am going for a longer drive.

This is exactly what I do.
Favourites button toggles to quiet mode.

Once I'm away from my own local streets I toggle the exhaust back to what ever drive mode.

I did set up a custom drive mode, but tend to just switch to sport mode via the steering wheel switches these days.

It's a shame there isn't a second Favorites button, and with a larger menu of items to choose from.

And getting into the habit of double-pressing the lane keep assist to be rid of the poorly implemented "hands on steering wheel" nag.

I tend to just bounce between Normal and Sports modes, depending on what mood I'm in. If I'm just driving around town I find that Sports mode tends to hold the gear changes a bit too much - but I do love the Sports exhaust noise waaaay better.
I also have a night schedule set for starting in quiet mode.

Like everyone else, double tap the Lane Assist button, and turn the Start-stop off if I'm in normal mode - I have a custom mode set to do this, but I figure I've either got to hit the button to toggle up to custom mode, or hit the button to turn it off - same end result.

After start up, double tap of the lane keep, double tap of the drive mode steering wheel button to activate custom mode. This was my early selection; Normal base driving mode, Normal dampers, Comfort steering, DSC/TC on, Track exhaust.

I've now programmed the favorite button for track exhaust, then altered the above to have Normal exhaust. If I could, I like to be able to have the transmission in sport mode as its very lazy in normal, sadly its locked to the base drive mode.

For the cluster theme, I bounce around, favoring the SVT, Normal and Fox Body themes.

As an indulgence, If the car is cold I like to remote start it before getting in. I just love the sound of the starter motor winding over before the blast of exhaust noise as it fires. So good!

I love the SVT and Fox Body clusters. Before I got the car I was convinced I'd be rocking the SVT one as a daily. Now I have the car, the one thing I miss on those clusters is a gear indicator. Stupid I know because especially in a manual, you always know which gear you are in anyway, but for some reason I just love seeing that on the display. So for now I've sort of settled on the track cluster. It gives me GT40 vibes. That being said, I should give each one a longer go and see what a proper test with them delivers.

This!
I wish the SVT cluster had a gear indicator.

In the early days I found myself too easily shifting into the wrong gear (both going up or down).
ie; 1st to 4th, instead on 2nd... 4th to 1st, instead of 3rd.

Aside from cosmetics, it was an unexpected bonus that a weighted shift knob would help tremendously.

S650 Mustang Everyday driving configuration _DSC2799_800

The extra mass of the knob means the spring trying to return the shifter into a central position isn't as effective, which makes the change from 1st to second easier, ie; straight down without the shifter being pulled to the right towards 4th. It's less of a fight with the spring!

If that makes sense?

Because of that, I've just been using the normal or sports cluster, so I get confirmation of what gear I'm in before I release the clutch. Glancing at the gear indicator has become a part of my shifting routine now.

How much does the titanium DH knob weight?

S650 Mustang Everyday driving configuration Shift-Knob-Weights_1200

My Raceseng Slammer knob weighs ~600g, and explains why the center-return spring isn't as effective compared to the 140g OEM knob.

With increased confidence of not screwing up my changes, I should revisit the SVT and FOX clusters. They do look cool. :sunglasses:

That and a digital speed reading, which would be handy due to the odd speed increments Ford chose.

It's more the digital speedo that I miss on these clusters, mind you, having an auto I don't have the gear indicator anyway - unless it's in manual mode. After this recall saga is sorted and Ford do their update, I'll have to see if one of you Brissie Forscan guys can toggle my gear indicator on permanently :fingerscrossed:
