Right, 87 octane is the minimum, why buy a vehicle with engine like this, and spend all that coin and use low octane fuel?

Ok, I'm gonna ask the dumb non-mechanic question here. Is this really necessary? Did we buy a car with an engine that will destroy itself by design?
