Many of you may already know about this issue; I did not until reading this article.

Ford recalled just under 32,000 ’22 and ’23 Mustangs last year for improperly calibrated secondary steering torque sensors; which means; “the steering wheel can turn side to side with little warning, causing a very dangerous loss of control.”

Ya think?!

However many Mustang owners that went in and had the recalibration performed; ………..apparently there were 331 recalibrations performed incorrectly. Prompting a second Ford Mustang recall for this issue.

Presumably ALL the recalibrations were performed at Ford Dealerships by Ford certified Techs; suggesting a disturbing level incompetency over a fairly wide range of dealerships and techs.

I'm conscious all 331 botched recalibrations “could have” been performed at a single dealership by a single Tech, but likely were not. Maybe it was only a very few dealerships and techs? Raising doubt in my mind in the efficacy of the training program/instructors of the Ford Techs, and the tech certification process.

Do any Forum Members know how Ford classifies it’s certified techs? E.g. Are Ford CTs “generalists” with some training knowledge in multiple areas, or there “specialists” with specific areas of expertise?

NOTE: “Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration aren't deeming this a "do not drive" situation, because it doesn't sound like the steering defect is terribly severe”

WILEY OBSERVATION: How the heck can Ford and NHTSA conclude the second recall "is not" a "do not drive" issue, if the improperly calibrated steering torque sensor can cause a "very dangerous loss of control"? 🤔
