This increase happened this past weekend I believe. Almost put in my DMG order last Friday but decided to call it in on Monday. Bam!!! That'll be an extra $495. WTF?!?! Thankfully, they're giving away 2 ounces of red paint on the Brembos for a mere $495.
That's wild. When I ordered last April there was no charge in selecting red or blue Brembos. No charge for paint colors either. IMO they should adjust costs when the new model year starts and not in the middle of it.

Fear not, they will do that too.
Ha! Got that right!

I was able to get credit for the $465 increase when I picked mine up two days ago. One benefit to ordering...

I just noticed the following prices on paint colors for the MY24 Mustang. My Atlas Blue Metallic GT just showed up at the dealer and I know for a fact there was no upcharge for that color when I ordered. Here's what I'm seeing:

Atlas Blue Metallic $295
Grabber Blue: $295
Vapor Blue $295
Race Red $295
Dark Matter Gray $495

Not sure if Dark Matter Gray was an upcharge before but I'm pretty certain that was no $295 charge for Atlas Blue, Grabber Blue or Vapor Blue previously.
When I ordered my 2024 GT Premium Atlas Blue on February 19, 2024 there was NO extra charge for the Atlas Blue on the Customer Order Sheet which I signed.
when I received the Vin and window sticker there was a $295.00 charge.
The dealer said there always has been an extra charge for the Atlas Blue & other paint, etc.

If you ordered and signed the order sheet you should have been price protected against the increase as it happened after you ordered. There was a small MSRP increase on my car after I ordered it but I was refunded the money a few months after I picked it up. My dealer said they had to submit the price protection claim to Ford and once Ford approved it and refunded the dealer then the dealer in turn refunded me.

You might have already done this, but I'd ask them to identify to you where that cost and line item are in the order which was placed. There should be a single reference for that paint, at $X.

If any price increases happened after an order was put in, Ford does offer Price Protection.

Dealer places an order for car at $X. Ford later increases their pricing. Immediately after the increase, all future documents generated by Ford reflect the new pricing, to include the invoice, window sticker, etc. Car later arrives at dealer with $$$ and document changes. Their invoice price has now stepped up. They're buying the car from Ford at that new price. But they can now apply for Price Protection.

For Price Protection to happen, the same person that ordered the car has to be the same one purchasing, which is not a concern here.

Price Protection can work in several ways.

First, the dealer might not support Price Protection; they're not required to. They could attempt to sell the car to you at the new price. A handful of dealers have been known to do this. They shrug their shoulders and ask the customer to pay those increases. In the background, they invoke Price Protection, get the check, and pocket it. These instances, fortunately, are rare. In these cases, the buyer is left with the choice of paying for those increases and accepting the car, or passing on the purchase while starting anew.

If the dealer supports it, the protection can pay out in one of two ways.

In the way described in the post above, the customer pays the new price, with the dealer later forwarding the check to the customer. If this method is used, get that agreement in writing. Further, withhold all surveys until you have check in-hand. After-sale dealer surveys directly tie to commission payments to the sales person; he doesn't get paid until you get paid. If the check is being forwarded to the buyer, it can take several weeks or longer to arrive.

The most common method of Price Protection is the customer pays the original pricing. Any increases which happened after the order went in are transparent; it's like they never happened. Dealer attests to Ford the person buying the car is the same who ordered it, applies for protection and later pockets the check. In this method, the dealer is temporarily short. They bought the car at the new, higher price, then sold it to you at the original, lower price.

Price Protection does not apply to destination and delivery charges, or changes in the gas guzzler tax.

Same for me. When i ordered, Yellow Splash was no charge.

Shortly after they started charging for it but I asked my dealer and they said that i was safe since my order didn't have a charge for it.
