I didn’t see this mentioned...

Since buying my Dark Horse in July, every time I put the car in reverse I’d get a pop up: “Reverse Brake Assist disabled” with an “OK” prompt. I’ve not really had any problems reversing the car so I put it off and finally got around to it today. It was bit frustrating if I’m honest. Online guidance from Ford is to enable it in Features ; Driver Aids or Driver Assist.

Only I don’t have a menu option for reverse brake assist anywhere.

Something on this list seems to have gotten rid of the warning, although I still have no visible menu option to enable or disable reverse brake assist.

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/... sensors checked for,for the message to clear.

In relevant part:
Why is reverse brake assist unavailable?
  • Make sure you switch the system on. See Switching Reverse Brake Assist On and Off.
  • Make sure that the liftgate or tailgate, hood and all doors are closed.
  • Make sure the cross traffic alert system is on. See Cross Traffic Alert.
  • Make sure the rear parking aid system is on. See Rear Parking Aid.
  • Make sure that traction control is on. See Switching Traction Control On and Off .
  • Your vehicle may have sustained a rear end impact. Have the sensors checked for proper coverage and operation.
  • Make sure the exterior cameras are not dirty or obstructed. If dirty, clean the cameras. If the reverse brake assist unavailable message still appears after cleaning the cameras, wait a short time for the message to clear. If the message does not clear, drive the vehicle on a straight road for a short period. If the message remains, have the system checked.
  • Make sure the sensors are not blocked or faulted. See Locating the Rear Parking Aid Sensors .
See Locating the Cross Traffic Alert Sensors .
  • You recently had your vehicle serviced, or the battery disconnected. Drive your vehicle a short distance to resume system operation.
  • The system does not function when you connect a trailer. Operation resumes when you disconnect the trailer.
I ended up toggling cross traffic alert and rear parking aid, then turning off t/c and turning it back on again.
No more pop up.

I went through the same situation. Got tired of seeing that warning light popping up after months. Enabling cross traffic alert cleared the warning for me. Sure this will help others. good post.

Yeah, the only reason I went after this was it kept drawing my attention and it was routine. I don’t like “just ignoring” dash prompts. So I went lookin for it and saw it was a toggled feature ...

Only I don’t have the toggle option anywhere !
And it took a few tries to get this to stick so IDK which one took care of it as I already had the required stuff enabled.

What menu was this under? I was in my settings today and didn't see these anywhere?
