…and I’m literally shocked! This was a brand new base car and I don’t think it had the first option on it. I immediately popped it into track mode and took off. The car had great power and IMO was very quick. I mean, it pulled very strong up to 85 or so before I hit heavy traffic and had to back off. Took it through a sweeping S-curve on a long on ramp and the car hung tight and was very well mannered Indeed. It had a very “light on it’s feet” feel about it. It even sounded pretty good!

I’m not having a fire sale on any of my V-8 Mustangs but I’m telling you I’d enjoy driving this car anywhere. I’m sure many if not most of you guys already know all this but I’d never driven one so it was enlightening for me. If I’ve ever disparaged an EB before please consider this my official comeuppance. It’s just another flavor of Mustang goodness and I imagine with the right options it’d be a real driver’s car.

Edited to add: even brand new and in track mode the A10 was precise, smooth and behaved beautifully.

Would be really neat to know what the *real world* 0-60 and 1/4 mile times look like on those new EcoBoost cars. The magazine tests are all over the place with them.

Not really interested in ecoboost cars or base cars but now I am curious, what were the changes made (if any) to the 2024 ecoboost over prior years? I thought it was just a carryover engine that didn't get touched?

I know they added port injection to the 2.3 EB so now it has both port injection and direct injection. There are some other changes to the engine too but I can't remember, lol.

The 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost's 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine has several updates compared to the previous model:
  • Horsepower: The engine now produces 315 horsepower at 5,000 rpm, which is 5 horsepower more than the 2023 model.
  • Torque: Torque remains unchanged at 350 pound-feet at 3,000 rpm.
  • Fuel injection: The engine features an updated dual port and direct fuel injection system.
  • Turbocharger: The engine has a smaller and lighter twin-scroll turbocharger.
  • Valvetrain: The engine has a newly designed valvetrain.
-Also has an electronic wastegate

I had a 2018 EcoBoost Premium which I was very happy with. Got rid of it at 99,000+ miles just because I did not want to go over 100,000. (Mental thing, I guess, because I had with no issues with the car.) My 2024 EcoBoost Premium is a better car in many ways, so probably related to the fact that it has 99,000 fewer miles on it. But things like the improved 10 speed automatic transmission make it a better car. I don't beat on it, but I was always happy with the performance and handling of the 2018, and I am still very happy with the 2024.

It is an entirely new engine... all the changes above... even the bore/stroke are different.

Just hit 2000 miles in my '24 EB, and can attest it's a pretty fast car for what it is. I've owned 20 Vettes and don't doubt this is a solid 13 second car.

It's our roadtrip car and both the GF and I have the tendency to beat on it if the highway is clear (she's seen 123 lol hide).

It has great throttle response and will rip shifts in Sport mode, and I used to drive solely in that mode until one harsh downshift at 1200m. For the last 800 it's mostly in normal mode, which is decent and it's starting to learn that I want to drive aggressively and is getting better with shifts and throttle response.

I didn't realize how different the new EcoBoost is compared to the last gen. Maybe I should check it out sometime...🤔

🤯 20?! How did you like all of them compared to the 'Boost?

I've never owned an EB S550 but I do rent the convertible version with PP if I can find it whenever I head out on vacation to Florida or what not and it's a very fun, responsive, nimble road trip vehicle. Must always be in Sport or Sport+ though :)

I would imagine the S650 version offers better driving dynamics. Hoping to find one when I'm out next!

Different animals for sure. For one, all the Vettes were manual, I went with the Boosted automatic so the GF and I could split driving duties.

My favorite was my 2003 C5 Z06, bought new. I also enjoyed my 2nd FRC, which I put 100k on from '08-'16. My last 2000 FRC, purchased last year with only 34K, was a dud so I dumped it at the dealer for the EB.

That's cool. My favorite Corvette was the C5 generation, followed by the C7. I prefer the coupe over the fixed roof personally on the C5. I've often thought about getting a 'Vette, but I imagine insurance costs more than a 2+2 seater. That and I'd have to go automatic. But at the end of the day my heart is with the Mustang. Someday I'll own a GT, just not exactly sure when. :)
