I keep getting advice that contradicts prior advice on wheel/tire combo for my 2021 GT Premium. Here's what I want. I want tires that I can use almost 10 months, great wet grip and control, smoother riding than my factory 265/35R20's I have now. Streets in and around Boston are pothole heaven and my wheels are not up for it, by any means. This is my daily driver. I was thinking that a higher sidewall tire, maybe a 45, would provide a smoother ride than the 35's, and handle the potholes before I ruin a wheel falling into one. Given that, can I use a 265/45R20 tire on this car and if I can, will it make a difference, or go down to a 19 and build a combination? I'd like some opinions from people not trying to sell me what they want me to buy.

265/45-20 is an almost 29.5" inch tall tire

If you want that sidewall you need to step down to an 18" wheel

I was told the smallest wheel I could go to was a 19 due to the caliper size up front.

You'd have to stick with a 40 series tire then
Will 40's be enough sidewall to absorb rough streets without knocking out any dental fillings? lol

You‘re on the wrong forum. Go here…….

And, by the way, if you do not have the Performance Package you should not have the Brembo’s brake calipers. If this is the case you can use 19’s or even 18’s if you want.

The previous owner did a lot of upgrades.
