Curious to get opinions on the optional 20" Premium Painted Aluminum Wheels with the brembo package?

I'm a little torn on these vs the standard GT Premium wheels. I test drove a black convertible with the optional wheels yesterday. I was surprised how much I liked them in-person.

Do you think they are too over-the-top? Is aftermarket the better way to go? I don't hate the standard wheels but I don't love them either. I also swore I'd avoid complicated wheels this time around because I hate cleaning them.

What do you guys think. Anyone have these? Are they worth the $1,300 upgrade cost? Better to go aftermarket? Better just to stick with the standard wheels?

I have them and they are the reason I chose my car. They look outstanding in person, especially with the red Brembo package.

That looks really good! I like the DMG paint color too. That's another thing I'm torn over, black vs DMG...

The black convertible with the premium wheels looks awesome! I don’t think you can go wrong with either color.

Black is just such an SOB to keep clean.

We got the upgraded wheels but not the larger brembos. The regular wheels don’t look as nice.

The cleaning issue is what attracted me to the dark matter gray in the first place. I've seen a couple and it's a great looking color. The metallic flakes give it a great sparkle. But I have to say when I saw the car I have pictured above in the optional wheels I was like WOW! It was the first black convertible I've seen and I think I just have to go black now. I'll probably regret it at some point but it sort of resonated with me In way the DMG didn't. Black was also my original choice. The heart wants what the heart wants as they say...

But back to the wheels. I had no interest at all in them until seeing them live. They are really stunning. I just wonder if they are a little too flashy. And like I said in the original post, there are so many great aftermarket wheels out there. Just not sure yet.

Those look good with the vapor blue. Did you paint the calipers or something? Thought they were all silver?

Another reason for the choice was the 265 Goodyear F1 all- season tire. They are a superb UHP all-season choice.

Wondering if the UHP tires combined with the 20" wheel make for a rougher ride compared to the stock 19s?

Yes, they were painted. When we did the ppf they did the calipers too. I was going to do them myself because I wanted the actual lighter blue that the upgrade comes with but they couldn’t do that blue. However, this darker blue is really nice and is a little more contrasting with the vapor blue. I’m happy with this color.

I’m sure the 19” summer tire is a bit softer, but I have no complaints of a harsh ride.

When I test drove the car with the 20" wheels I did notice some vibration on highway driving that I don't remember experiencing when I test drove one with the standard GT Premium wheels. Now the 19" I drove was a coupe, so it's possible the convertible just isn't as smooth as the fastback, but I have a feeling the bigger issue was the wheels. Although I really liked the look of the 20s I think I have decided to go with the 19s. I'm still not thrilled with the stock wheels but may go the aftermarket route eventually.

Was doing some google searching on the 20 inch wheels and found this thread, wanted to ask are you still liking this wheel and tire? it ride pretty smooth and drive good? i currently have the 19 inch pp1 wheels with 265/40 michelin pilot sport 4 A/S and like them, i like how they kept the same pp1 style on the new 20's and if i did order in future would go with a white Mustang GT, thanks & how are the goodyears doing? kinda rare to see goodyear on Mustangs lately.
