Not car people here but trying to learn quickly. Nervous and anxious about AM.

In early spring a nearby (100km) museum advertising its big yearly car show was asking for entry submissions. They wanted a car from every year from 1900 - 2024. My wife submitted & we got picked to represent 2024.

Tomorrow is the big day and I’m nervous as shit as I don’t really want anyone touching our Dark Horse. Especially children. But I don’t want to be telling everyone to stay away either. Ugh !! I’m also an introvert married to an extrovert. So this should be a true experiment.
I’ll take any tips or advice from you car guys. Being as the car is mostly techy, do we gotta show everyone the dash powered up and such. And. Like. I like the way the car looks with the hood closed. But I see mostly at shows they are open. Ugh. Lol. Heelllppp

Got to the town this evening and washed Drogo and his support truck. Hotel parking lot.

You'll be just fine and so will your DH. People that come to car shows are typically car people. The folks around here respect the cars and just look, but don't touch. Be proud to represent 2024! Of course you can get one of the those "Please look, but don't touch! I'm not that kind of car!" signs on the windshield.

I entered my GT in a recent show and got a Top 20 award. There was a tie breaker at the end and Scarlett obviously brought home the plaque. Here are a couple pics of the judging and eventual award. Good luck!

Just reread your post about the display. Hood up is standard as people like to look at engines, and if you're being judged is usually required. No need to show off the tech. Just a static car display. Roll down the windows so folks can gaze inside. Of course make sure Drogo is bug free and looking his best. Wipe down everything! Judges can be very picky! Mostly just enjoy the fellowship with other car people. Shows are a big part of the culture. They aren't for everyone, but they are fun place to meet like minded people. Post some pics and let us all know how it goes! Good luck!

Don’t get upset if de-badge impacts points.

Hood up.
Trunk is optional, depends on the show; most do not, just follow others lead.
Windows down is a little tricky. Could make it dusty. Could cause more people to ā€œlean inā€, risking dangly things to touch door. I would start with them up, then see how the show does.
Definitely no need to show the tech. If someone specifically asks, then up to you.

Wife and I did the car show thing from 2007-09, local, regional and national (MCA). Nothing wrong with putting signs and or stanchions around car, many do it, keeps sticky fingers at bay. (not our car in pic)

Well. It went great I think. We got there early. And got settled. Pancake breakfast. There was no judging so that was great. It was a sunny day but not hot. All in a grass field.

People flocked to the car and there were lots of whispers of ā€œ I think it’s a Dark Horseā€¦ā€. So I was happy to have the badge there for them to see and hold. They got to see one of the other badges on my wife’s tailgate. So many told us that we were the ā€œcar of the showā€ despite there being hundreds of customs, classics, and hot rods. Not to mention we were parked by seven Corvettes.

We were the only S650 in the show though two people said their 2024 GT was in the parking lot.

Sometimes we had the hood up. Sometimes down. Showed off the tech to tons of people. Was very proud. Everyone was very respectful & no one touched the car. Totally ready to do another. Thanks to all for the tips and suggestions.

On the way home we were caught in a shower. First rain the car has seen. Back to work this AM but not before a quick free wash and blow dry at my shop.

Mark
