Is car jerking when braking in sport and track mode normal?

S650 GT vert with PP + Magnaride and AVE. From day 1 I've had the cool burbles and pops especially in sport and track mode, but when I'm accelerating in those modes and especially when braking, the car "jerks" for lack of a better word when applying the brakes. It's the 10 spd auto. Is that normal? This is my first Mustang, first V8, so I'm not sure what is and isn't normal on these things.

That's normal. It's just downshifting. 👍🏻

@Adamrx11 ..... if you're talking about the deceleration that occurs from engine braking because of the rpm your selected your downshift at then that is completely normal and if you choose a low gear at a higher speed (MPH) you can get a pretty noticeable downshift deceleration. Play with your paddles a bit. The 10R80 left to do its own downshits is imo pretty amazing.

My Eco-Boost doesn't have the track package, but it does the same thing. It's the reverse of hard-throttle acceleration. First time I used the Drag mode, the upshift was so harsh I thought the other guy had hit me!

I'm driving an EcoBoost convertible rental while traveling out of state and I know this is an unpopular opinion but man I honestly like the way this handles better than the 5.0, it's almost 400lb lighter and you really feel the difference. This one doesn't have the AVE and sounds bad. I almost got the 24 Ecoboost over the GT and man I dunno.... just love how "zippy" this car gets compared to sometimes feeling like I'm driving a boat with the V8

Downshifting with “quips” (pops) on medium breaking with higher speeds (upon deceleration).

The paddles are your friends. Learn to love them! They can alter your mindset about an automatic transmission. 10 gears are awesome. I don't often put my tranny in manual mode but I am constantly using the paddles, especially for downshifting. There is very little reason to use your brakes when you have that many gears. Actually, an owners manual I had, many years ago, said "brakes" are for emergencies. Glenn

Paddles are a mixed bag or tricks! At least I think do.

I have a well-warmed over 2019 Ranger with no paddles, but I can use the rocker switch on the shift lever to accomplish the same thing. As many times as I have tried, the best 0 to 60 and the quarter times, have always occurred by letting the computer do its thing.

I've also noted the jerking on my Eco-Boost. Fact is, I can duplicate it at will. There is also an issue when in Sports mode, and 'L'. If you accelerate hard, then immediately let off the gas and coast, the shift from 1 to second feels like someone hit you in the butt. It is supposed to rev match, but not that particular shift pattern.
