Is 401A still worth it without B&O - what is "premier trim with color accent group"

The Illuminated Door Sill can light up with 28 different colors.
The 12 Speaker B&O sound system is a trade off.
The 2024 GT Mustang with the B&O System was included in the 401-A Package.
The 10-Speed Automatic Transmission was a $1595.00 option.
The 2025 GT Mustang the B&O System is $995.00.
The 10-Speed Automatic Transmission is at no Extra charge.
In reality you pay $2900 for the 401-A package but
You pay $995.00 for the sound system. Subtract $995.00 from $1595.00 from what you would have paid for the automatic transmission.
The 401-A package really cost you $600.00.
If you choose to get the six speed, then it cost you $995 for the B&O System & your S. O. L.
6 speed all the way.

I just checked the builder, I didn't realize the auto is no longer extra. And I'm guessing the 6MT still has the gas guzzler tax. This may be the nail in the coffin on my Mustang. The only reason I'm considering it is to downsize from my Bronco and Trans Am to a single vehicle. The advantage is less maintenance, more space in the garage (got a few motorcycles and bikes, plus I want the kids to have some space to and be able to grab their toys without help). Also, I love my '02 Trans Am 6MT, but it has the normal 20+ year old car issues and it would be nice to just be able to get in and go without wondering if I'm going to be towed home. Last summer I had to replace the alternator, and then the clutch master, and now it is leaking coolant and I haven't had a chance to look at it, but I know I'll have to deal with it before I break it out for the spring.

I have the B&O in my Bronco and I like it, but tons of people complain about it. I've had ground pounders in the 90s, JL, phoenix gold, orion were all some of my favorites. I guess I've gotten old, and I'm trying to preserve what hearing I have left, but I'm happy with the B&O in the bronco. Only time the bass was terrible was when How Bizzare came on once, and the bass was terrible. sounded like plastic grocery bags were in front of the subwoofer, but there actually were some there, so I'm not sure if it was the song or the bags.

If I move forward, I'm really not sure I want to spend 3 grand on BLIS and some interior stiching or whatever the primer trim thing is ;)
The BO do sound good, but me personally I like a lot of bass. So if I want to listen to music(never) I’ll bring my JBL 110 and put it in the trunk with the rear seats down. Bass boosted with 50-60% volume is enough.

My 400A 10 speed 2025 with just the active exhaust was around 52K msrp , no gas guzzler tax. then just get a set of wheels for it and tint the windows and looks good.

Convertible 6 speed is a must if I'm giving up a convertible Bronco and T-Top Trans Am ;) The funny thing is I think the hard tops look better on Mustangs and Camaros, but for functionality I'd go convertible.

I use to just get the bare minimum and was happy when I was young and single, but now I'm finding as I get older I'd rather get a bit too much and have a few things I don't use than wish I had gotten more.

Magneride would be nice for the family, my T/A is lowered and rattles everyone's fillings out on western PA roads ;)

Active exhaust for the neighbors - I'm a volunteer firefighter and sometimes leave in the middle of the night for a call (I don't drive differently than normal, but still would be nice to be quieter at 3am)

Performance pack seems to be a good deal for what it is , and I like the wheels.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm really ticked that basically Ford upped the option by no longer including the B&O. I also didn't realize the Ford Co-Pilot360® Assist doesn't include 360 cameras! I mean, that's what I thought when I saw "360", so I'm glad I asked.

I'm honestly so unhappy I just might pass on the whole thing, it's pretty crappy that the mustang I want went up roughly 10% from '24 to '25 with no additional features.
The GT's are not selling that well in general. If I were you I would browse nearby dealerships to see if they have any on the lot that match (or are very close to) your build. The sticker price on my 2024 GT Premium with 401A is 54k and I was able to get it off the dealer lot for 47k. And yes, I bought it new, not used. It almost matched my exact build, just didn't have the rally stripes or black wheels. As you can see I've already added the stripes and I will take my time looking for the wheels I want. Good luck, I hope you find your steed!

I'm considering ordering, and not sure I want the 401A. According to the builder on Ford's website, this is what it includes (GT Premium convertible):

  • Includes all GT Features, Plus:
    • Illuminated Door-sill Scuff Plates
    • Premier Trim with Color Accent Group
    • Security Package
    • Ford Co-Pilot360® Assist
    • Memory Driver Seat and Exterior Mirrors with Integrated Turn Signal Indicators

From what I understand we can add the illuminated door sill plates very easily, and I do want those, but this just doesn't seem like much for $2900 since you still have to add the premium sound for almost $1,000! So, I'm wondering what the Premier Trim with Color Accent Group means?

According to the builder, the security package is included anyway in the base.

I'd kind of like the co-pilot if that's what I need to get 360 cameras, I do love those when backing into my garage, even though I've backed many vehicles into garages over the years without any cameras, its still nice.

Memory seats and mirror turn signals are not a requirement for me either.

If the B&O is still included and the builder is wrong, then its a no brainer.
I am in a different position from you. I am 80 years young and the thought of spending $67,000, (list, I get A-PLAN!), on a Mustang, (Loaded 2024 Convertable), seemed silly at best. BUT, It will be my last Mustang, and I decided at this stage of the game of life, I would get what I wanted.
I won't be on the track, doing the Dark Horse was not needed. So I got the GT convertable, and will store it in Winters, (Michigan), and enjoy a fun car in the Summers.
My last Mustang was a 1988 convertable, and this 2024 RULES!!! Perfect, no but an A- in my opinion.

All good points again, but we'll see. Still waiting to hear from my sales guy, he just e-mailed me and said he'll let me know tomorrow. The bottom line is going to come down to the out the door. And he and his dealership were awesome with my Bronco, I ordered 12 of 21 and it arrived 11 of 22. No ADM, no BS, they honored the price they told me when I ordered, which meant I actually got a discount off MSRP at the time of delivery, which nobody was getting in '22 with Broncos.

So this is kind of a shot in the dark - if the numbers come in where I'd like, I'll downsize and enjoy the extra garage space and a vehicle I don't have to repair. If it's too much, I'll stick with what I have, figure out how to organize my garage, fix the Trans Am, and enjoy them all! And hopefully find time to figure out why my '94 ZX-7 won't start ;) I just feel like I work on my classics more than I use them

You could get the base GT Premium and upgrade all kinds of stuff you like. That's if you're keeping the car .

I've asked my sales guy for an out the door on a GT premium convertible with no options, and a GT premium convertible with everything I could possible want. Once I have those 2 numbers, I can analyze what exactly I want.

I've found, for me, its better to overbuy a vehicle when possible. I'd rather have a $70K vehicle with a few things I don't need, than a $60K vehicle missing a bunch of stuff I really want. Just still not sure I want to pay 3 grand for lighted door sills and upgraded stitching, because the rest doesn't really matter.

Recaro Seats
401a package
Active Exhaust
Racing stripes
Red Painted Calipers

$71,580.00 to the wheels.

I have exactly the same options, only I have blue calipers and no racing stripes.

$50.000 USD brand new.

For the GT? that’s a great deal.
Yes the GT. I bought it in Canada where the prices are way lower for some reason.
I think it has to do with the fact that the coyote engine is built there. I have no clue why Canadian Mustangs are way cheaper.

It would make sense if it’s built there and sold there for cheaper. If US imported those parts then it would be more expensive.
