Update from the dealer:

As they try to locate the source of the noise/rattle in the dashboard, they applied something around that area and they hear the noise less, so now they're removing the windshield to inspect the welds in the driver's side A-pillar.

Still have no idea if the car leaks water, and they haven't looked into the "start-up kick" yet. Today officially makes 1 full month that it's been in the shop!

Yikes. Keep us updated. I hope they get it all sorted out for you.

Already, the dealer reached out to Ford Hotline Assistance, and they want to replace the dashboard assembly. I'm gonna have a completely different car by the time they're done!

Well, at least they seem to be advocating for you. Are they able to reproduce the rattle?

They were able to reproduce the rattle just by rocking the car side to side. Two body shops and an in-house fix later, they can hear it less, but still present.

Oh man. That's crazy. Did get a car fax when you bought it? I have to wonder if the car was a buyback or in some accident.

I did get a CarFax and it came back clean, no issues reported.

The car moves in parking with the parking brake on when the engine starts? WTF???
Unless i completely misunderstood it, this is a major safety concern and you should send it back immediately. Actually you shouldn't even drive it.
Could it be possible when you put your Mustang in park that the transmission doesn’t recognize Park ?
Maybe it’s not quite in park so it’s a transmission problem, maybe.
I know Ford is smarter than I am but just a guess.?

From what I can tell, the car recognizes park just fine. It seems like a very specific way to replicate it: the car must be warmed up to operating temperature, but left off for a short period of time. Once the car turns on again, if the AC is on, it "kicks" right after the engine turns over.

I'll have to try to get a video of it happening, but I haven't had the car for a month now.

bought a used car and believed the dealer about trading for a Dark Horse? already been to a body shop for repairs? Get out while you can. It's only going to be worse going forward. Buy a new one next time.

Dealer says the dashboard has been delivered and they're gonna put it on. If that doesn't fix the noise complaint, it's going to a third body shop and they're gonna start replacing body panels.

Dealer has installed the new dashboard and says they "believe this has solved the issue" which I can only assume means that the noise in the dash is gone. Progress, love to see it!

Next items to tackle are the water leaking into the interior when it rains, and the kicking on startup.
