The K Member is the part of the car that holds the engine, steering, and some of the suspension components. The steeda k member is listed on their site as part number 555-5061 and replaces the entire factory k member. The OP installed a k member BRACE, steeda p/n 555-5536.

The GTPP (and I think all of the s650s for that matter from what I've read) have an additional k member BRACE further forward on the factory k member. That factory brace and the aftermarket steeda/BMR braces do not brace the k member in the same spot, so any aftermarket brace you buy will be an upgrade as it's bracing the rear legs of the k member which has no bracing from the factory regardless of trim or options.
Thank you - I wasn't positive if it was more of a technical analysis being requested or just the difference in the 2 parts.

I know you were not asking me but I figured you would not mind another data point. I did not notice any change in ride quality in either direction. I love how the brace improves the steering feel and response to inputs. I would recommend to anyone who drives with purpose. If you are the kind of person who can keep a cell phone laying on the dashboard then save your money for something else, like a manicure.

Do you have to drop the brace in order to get to the oil filter?

I would like to know the same… have this ready to install but haven’t had the chance to look it over.

You do not have to drop the brace to get to the oil filter. You can reach in from the side but if you leave the undertray in place you will have oil all over and dripping for days. That's why I cut an oil filter access hole in mine.

The other option is to remove the under tray and leave it off.

Unboxed everything and no shims… Did anyone else have this issue? On Steeda website I see you can buy the hardware package that has them but I would assume they would come with it. Time to find some washers I guess.

Mine did not come with those spacers. I used a fender washer topped with a regular washer to get the clearance I wanted. I decided to keep my under tray and strakes so I just drilled a clearance hole for the regular washer. In short, those Steeda spacers would not have worked as well with the under tray anyway.

Do you need to get an alignment after installing this kit?

Have you thought about the cut-out part and make a door out of it using some kind of edge on the straight side and put on one snap on the curved side? I am just imagining that this is possible! Or I am dreaming the impossible? lol!
