Just venting! Love this car and everything about is awesome. However, just had something hit the windshield causing about a 6" crack. In the process of getting it replaced. This is the second time this has happened since we took delivery in March. Anyone else experience a cracked windshield (or maybe 2) since delivery? We have owned many vehicle over the years including a few sports cars without ever having to replace a windshield. This seems odd. Maybe the glass is of lower quality/thickness these days?

It's called tailgating (usually). The way people drive these days , I'd say auto glass replacement is a solid business model.

If you live anywhere near a quarry , you odds go WAY up.. .

Just luck.

On my 2019 I had it three days, saw the rock coming my way and thought I was good. Until I moved the visor and saw the crack starting. If the windshield gets hit on on or close to the edge seems to be when it cracks (same thing happened to my wife's Lincoln). If it hits further away from an edge it seems that is when you get the chip.

No way am I going to suggest to her that it was caused by tailgating! Not happening! Nope!

Mine, and my wife's, were not due to tailgating I can tell you that. We both were on a three lane expressway when it happened and not following a truck or anything. I saw the truck in the far right lane hit a bump that caused a lot of mud to fall from his truck and then the rock came across the middle lane and hit me.

I just remembered that my 2019 had a second cracked windshield that same first year of ownership and that was not the result of tailgating either. I was headed east on I-94, no cars in front of me. Suddenly I saw a rock come across the very wide median from the westbound side and hit on the edge again, almost the same spot, and immediately cracked to the middle of my windshield.

There's been more crap out on the highways over past 5+ years and city/county/state are slow in cleaning up the debris, hence, cars getting dinged up more often.
Funny you say that. I recently had this same thought while driving and noticing the debris/trash on our local roadways. Thinking maybe a combination of different era, lack of pride, low priority, resource issues. Nonetheless, the windshield is scheduled for replacement next Tuesday.

Take this with a grain of salt as this is purely anecdotal, but it's my firm belief that they don't make windshields like they used to. I've had multiple 80's and 90's cars that have taken golf ball sized rocks straight to the windshield and left no more than a small nick the size of a pinhead, never filled the chips and they never cracked after the fact. Heck even the glass headlights on my 92 Honda Prelude took a couple BIG ONES and had at most a pinhole or two glass was just thick and beefy back then. New vehicles if you look at them the wrong way they chip, then if you drive 5 miles with that chip left unfilled it will crack over to the other side of the car.

That being said I'd trust newer glass over the stuff made back then to not kill me in a serious impact event, even if it is more prone to spidering cracks from small impacts.

I'm on my 3rd driver's rear tire. I could build a new deck with the hardware I'm pulling out. I hope the streak ends!

"Bad" luck, NOT "dumb" luck. That's the ticket. Tranquility in life is all in the adjectives. 👍
