Just a quick question about the A/C in my Mustang Dark Horse, EU model.
I experience that between restarts, but mostly only cold starts, the A/C is turrned off, and I have to turn it on manually.
It has been like that since i bought it last summer, so in different weather conditions and temperatures.
Do you all also have to turn on the A/C manually between cold restarts or is this setting supposed to be remembered?
Is there an option in the car somewhere I need to set to have it turned on always?
Best regards...

I typically turn everything off, but I have noticed if I forget, they will be off upon restart. Same with Magneride: regardless of the previous setting, it will default to normal (primarily for safety, but also to keep loads low versus making an immediate adjustment. See below).

I feel it's Ford's (and probably other vendor's) way to keep the initial electrical loads as low as possible.

The car starts with the battery, right? But after startup and before the engine and vehicle is running stable, the car continues to operate on the battery. Once the Powertrain Control Module determines all is OK, it then commands the alternator to 1) begin re-charging the battery and 2) assume the electrical load of the vehicle.

Leaving fans, A/C and other items on would compromise that. My thought.

Thanks Skye.
It's just that I live in a rather humid area, so no matter the time of year, I need the A/C on, and in my old 2017 Mustang GT that setting was retained between restarts, so that the A/C was just always on. This seems to have changed for the new generation of Mustangs.
My question was mostly to figure out whether I have a bad A/C that refuses to start when starting the car, or if this is normal behaviour that I have to live with as is.
Best regards...

My A/C is always on, all year long. Every time I start my car the A/C is always on and does not turn off between cold starts. Back in the day, probably before you were born, we turned off our A/Cs because the batteries sucked and the car might not start because the batteries were weak. I adjust the temperature, not the A/C/heat. As far as a setting I don't remember if I ever set something for that. Glenn

On 'auto' the AC will turn on as required.

The AC will never be on at or below 4C to prevent damage to the system from ice.

My fist foray with auto-temp HVAC was a 1983 Couger. It wasn't all that good as the controls were vacuum operated. I lived in Colorado at the time, and going uphill always caused the unit to be too cool or too warm. PITA!

The 2024 HVAC in my Mustang and the one in my 2019 Ranger are all but flawless in operation.

@Gregs24 In the winter months where I live it's usually just around freezing point, but pretty humid. My car never seems to deem A/C required :-(
This means that if I turn on the car when entering it, it immediatly fogs up, and as the A/C doesn't turn on automatically, I have to do it manually every time I start the car from cold.
It's pretty much the same with remote start from cold, where the A/C is turned off as default, and even though having preheated the car for 3-4 minutes, the A/C is still turned off when I enter the car, and it immediately fogs up until I manually turn on the A/C.
My old 2017 Mustang GT just always had A/C turned on, so I just don't get why this is not the same with the new generation Mustangs. I always drive with the A/C turned on.

Thanks all, for feedback in general.

I'm not sure this is always the case, especially if you turn on the defrost. Both my Mustang and Ranger turn on the compressor when it is below freezing. I can't say when it does it as I don't stare at the display.

I’ve never set any settings for it but my A/C is always on. Only thing that turns off automatically for me is the recirculating option when the defrost is on.
