Hi All,

New guy here; about to pull the trigger on a Dark Horse Premium however there are caveats (aren't there always??!!?) and I was looking for an idea of how big a risk I would be at for selling my existing S550 in the wait for the S650.

So the dealership (which is another province actually) told me the following;

- The car has NOT been built yet.
- Ford has already given a VIN # for the build but no delivery date

One of the members here mentioend they had ordered a DH and "DH order that was JUST CANCELLED by Mother Ford with NO REASON GIVEN". I can deal with delays if I know that it's coming however selling my girl, on the assumption that Ford would make right, and then getting boned by Ford would result in a very frusterated MCS.

I'm not worried about the out of province bit as my current Mustang was bought sight unseen from 2000km away and shipped to me. HOWEVER I am a little concerned about selling my current car only to be left with nothing.

Anyone have any insight or experiences they can share?

Allocation vehicles are a fickle purchase I’d keep the old horse until the new one is available

There are no guarantees in life. Your order could be on the truck being delivered to your dealership and it gets trashed in a wreck. Decide accordingly.

I appreciate that man.

I may slap down the deposit and then just not put my car up for sale until they tell me "It's on a truck and will be here in 3 weeks".

I've had some of those automotive wholealers reach out to me with silly level offers so I'm in no rush to sell. First world problems I know!

I'm curious: is part exchanging your existing car with the dealer for money off the new one not an option or not the usual way to deal in America?

I'd say 90% of new car purchases in the UK include either a P/X or an end of lease/PCP return to the supplying dealer. It's hard to sell anything over ÂŁ30k privately and the new style premium auction sites are still pretty niche here.

@roadpilot is the @shogun32 of M7G! :cwl::crackup::cwl::crackup:

By the way, congrats on your purchase. Even if you are a M6G deserter!

Yeah... but he’s right. On FRF we had a Raptor owner whose truck made it all the way to the stealership and was backed off the delivery truck incorrectly, falling off the ramps. It was heartbreaking.

The closest I came to ordering was a 2009 Ducati 1198s and I didn’t have to because they already had 2 enroute and I got dibs on one of them. It had 1.8 miles on the odometer; literally the run in for the bike on the dyno. They assembled it in front of me straight out of the shipping crate. That was pretty cool.

Trigger has been pulled and deposit made.

Let's see if the build date (which was confirmed a couple of days ago) holds true!
