Watching the video, Quiet Mode would not work like that. It would not close for a second and re-open.

My guess is that this behavior is normal for the Active Exhaust. I also don't see how that flap can make that big of a difference for the 1 second that it closes and re-opens. As others have suggested, try pulling the fuse for the Active Exhaust.

I'm curious to see if there is any real difference.

Exhaust is like music for the purposes of this response. Anyone can make a loud exhaust. Not everyone can make an exhaust that sounds good.
Noise /= sounding good
noise /= horsepower

As with music, anyone can make loud music, not everyone can make good sounding music. A truly good musician can play music precisely and quiet.

So, all of this is to say, that’s probably as good as Ford could make the Coyote sound on a cold startup without it sounding harsh, unrefined, etc.

You know the guy in the lowered Honda Civic with 2.5” of ground clearance and a 6 inch diameter exhaust pipe, cruising around town in 2nd gear and never upshifting because he wants it to be LOUD? You could sub other models for Honda Civic- Subaru Impreza is a good one. Anyway, do you know this guy?

Don’t be like that guy.

You can start in quiet mode, set up by schedule, but it’s not more granular than hours per day. I have mine set to 11PM - 7AM. There’s a bit of initial noise from the garage but on a normal mode start, it’s plenty loud and even after the idle settles, it’s noticeable. You could just extend quiet mode start time , if you change drive modes, it will louden right up.
I have ours set for Quite Mod from 5:00 AM-7:00 AM.
I believe the first 30 or 45 seconds it’s still a little loud but will quiet down after 30-45 seconds?

I watched OP's video and the valve only flaps closed then immediately back open momentarily, like a fraction of a second.

Probably does not make a significant difference in actual sound output, and I suspect might be some form of valve self-testing on startup (just like on some cars how ABS does a little self-test when you first hit 15/25mph and can be audible as a click).

Personal observation:

Far too many around these parts (SE New Mexico) run in Drag or Track mode 24/7! Doing so isn't neighborhood friendly. The local constabulary will ticket those knuckleheads, but you have to complain several times. It appears, after all, their manliness is a bit short!

Your enjoyment may not equal their Peace and Quiet in the very early morning hours, just saying. So you want that 30~ seconds of extra rhump and then it’s over but how would that fair with you if you were said neighbor and had to suffer that in the mornings. I start my car with the garage door down (which doesn’t help much I’m sure with what I’ve done to my exhaust) out of respect for those around me and by the time the Infotainment system boots for me to get to Quiet Mode, it’s already calmed down. Still, I respect them enough and place the car in Quiet mode.

I was going to say this exact same thing.

Try turning the engine to run (press start button to get it to run mode), then push the clutch/brake and start the engine. Curious if it makes a difference.
