Not even sure why I'm responding to this, but here I go. Made a decision last November to change from a 2021 C8, fully paid for, 3,200 miles, 3LT, Z51, Magride, etc. Loaded. Had a double 39mm stent implant bilateral Iliac arteries in both legs. Almost lost my left leg. Getting into the Vet was easy, just fall in. Getting out was a bit more difficult and hurt like hell since I was pinching one of the stents. Another small problem, I live in the Houston area. Seems a lot of the people you meet in this car tend to want to race you or pull up next to you, crowd around the rear window and point guns at you. Drop it into 3rd and I'm gone at 110 or 120mph on curves and turns. My wife and I got tired of this.
Went to my local Ford dealer, tried a GT; a lot of noise, hissing and no go! Tried an Ecoboost. Meh! But the car was OK. Bought it. A day later, couldn't live with it. I had ordered a Porsche 718 S, 2.5L from a favorite dealer in Dallas in 2020 during Covid and gave the car to my wife. That car had a nice 0-60 in the mid to low 4's, handled great on curves, and my wife loved it. She suggested ordering the High Performance Package on the Ecoboost. Four and a half months later and here it is. Handled very close to the 718, quick, great gas milage although not a concern. Very good visibility, acceleration. But really lacking in a few basic areas: front parking camera, nicer interior, should have a better exhaust and cold air intake, electronics are twitchy, needs better insulation, you know, thing would expect from a $45K car. Other than that, I think a better purchase than a standard, run of the mill GT (too many on the road). Just my opinion, so please don't jump all over me.

(Former V8 owner, driven all the new American V8s ~30K miles each) the Ecoboost is a great "sporty daily". Stylish, decent MPGs, fast enough for normal traffic.

To car enthusiasts, it's definitely a "secretary's car" rather than a true "performance car". The lack of transmission control/paddle shifters (can't even see what gear you're in!) and the restrictive/neutered ESC all show Ford was targeting a different demographic with the Ecoboost. They expect Ecoboost drivers to be lucky high schoolers/college kids and Becky who just wants to look cute going to the mall, while enthusiasts and hardcore track guys go GT/DH.

I'm A-OK with that, and literally cross-shopped this with the new Camrys. The Ecoboost was more performance and style for thousands cheaper.

Performance-wise, the Ecoboost is great bang for the buck. In fact, comparing torque curves shows the Ecoboost is not far off the V8 on the low-end since the V8 lacks low-end torque. If you're mostly driving around town, you may not feel a dramatic performance difference. From testing it seems GT is consistently 0.5sec faster in 0-60, not as big of a gap as some may expect. If you're into driving twisty mountain roads, the Ecoboost is both more nimble and doesn't lose as much power with elevation, so again, not as bad as people think.

It definitely doesn't have V8 noise, but the S650 Ecoboosts do sound better than the S550 ones.

Ultimately I'd say it's a great for what it is--not a hardcore sports car but a "fun" daily. What one makes more sense for you depends on your use case and what you want from a car.
I ordered a premium 2024 ecoboost with performance pack, magna ride and active exhaust system. I do have the paddle shifter, Brembo brake and 3.55 diff. But I also know it was the last year that they offered those package.

I love my it, exhaust sound is really not that bad and unless you are a car nuts you won't see (hear) the difference. Performance is more than satisfactory. Handling is very good. The only thing is the wheel hop but I will install stop the hop from Steada next year when it comes out of storage in May.

For me paying an extra 10k just to get the V8 with the same package was not worth it. Plus gas, insurance and extra on your registration was not a good investment and for what, barely 1 sec from 0 to 60 and a bit more acceleration when flooring it.

The only thing that really bothers me is why they took the performance pack off. Probably because they didn't sell enough to justify it.

My last thought is that Ford did not intend to make this car a "secretary car" the offer was there. It's just that the people who ordered it wanted a "secretary car" thus not ordering those package and Ford adjusted the offer in consequence

Nice choice on the Color and Calipers. I can’t say that I have (yet) had the Gun pull up but plenty of wanna try me rev ups and I’m in South Houston near Clear Lake area. I don’t know of this ā€œhissingā€ and whatnot on the GT but I guess itā€˜s there for the ear. I too have had 3 Porsche’s in my lifetime and wouldn’t go back (unless I was gifted or really wanted a Turbo S or GT3 variant šŸ˜†) another one. Don’t get me wrong about Porscheā€˜s because my Wife has a Macan GTS but the rumble and Power of the V8 is forever LOVE with me. And Iā€˜ve seen maybe a half dozen S650’s thus far and I’ve had mines for a year this past Dec 7th. Enjoy the car because they are fun as well and can be made to be a terror on the streets. And sitting, that thing does look quick so still, be mindful of those outside mirrors my friend because they might want that one as well. I either have my ā€œHeaterā€œ in the center cup holder (for days when I’m driving in to work at 04:00am) and always on my hip!!

Admittedly, I haven't read the whole thread. However, the first Ford Mustang Turbo was was in 1979. It was a blow thru (no intercooler) with a 2 barrel carb and about 8 pounds of boost. You could make the hood scoop into a real fresh air intake, up the boost by changing the mechanical linkage, increasing the carb jets one step larger, and get about 185 HP out of it.

40-something man that can't wait to order and get his Ecoboost. I don't need the 5.0 and I'd rather get the Premium Ecoboost with everything I want than have to spend a little more for a base 5.0, considering this will be my daily driver. I loved my 2013 V6 and it was more than enough for me so I think this'll scratch that same itch.
Hate they got rid of the v6!

I also bought a ecoboost 24 and got it in September.

I love this car. Power is perfect. Acceleration is almost as fast as the GT (less than 1 sec for 0 to 100km) and cheaper to run all around. For my regular driving it's perfect, plus I have all the whistle and bell I could get on that model.

The only thing is, I was able to get the performance pack and magnaride which gave me the shifter paddle, Brembo brake and a 3.55 diff. These option are no longer available on the ecoboost. Furthermore the base model is almost 5k more today than in 2024.

I don't get why they took them out. Probably to force the buyer to get the 5.0 if they want them.
