I was one click away from ordering the EU taillights, which of course I don't like as the iconic look is lost, OEM EU version looks completely different. Suddenly I remembered that on some US cars, amber diodes are already preinstalled and they can be enabled by reprogramming. For example, in Tesla amber turn signals can be enabled by coding. Does anyone know anything about how this is handled in the 7gen Mustang? Maybe there are already amber diodes there too and I don't have to ruin the whole look and spend 2k+ in order to pass European certification?

euro tail lights are amber not red? I thought they were clear then go red when brake is applied.

Probably, you mean custom taillights, these are available in red, clear and smoke. Most of them also include both red and amber diodes preinstalled, so you can choose which color of turn signals to enable. However, in my country not possible to pass the certification with custom taillights as these do not have required marks/certificates, for example ā€œEā€ letter should be stamped on the lamp if it isn’t OEM.
The OEM EU taillights look like that 😭:

That was for the S550 - for the S650, the lower 10% of the taillight is amber, and the rest is red.

The actual indicator's operation is akin to Audi's sequential indicators, sweeping in the direction you are attempting to turn and blinking the way most other cars do instead of the 1-2-3-Off sequence NA-spec Mustangs do.

Unfortunately there are no orange lights in the rear tail lights of the Mustang.

Form lighting has a pair that costs 500 USD that will give you the orange turn signal.

Your second option is to send your OEM tail lights to HDcostums in Poland and they can make this for you. But this costs more than the two light units of formlichting. You better buy the form lighting and have your OEM tail lights as a spare.

What do you mean by modifying OEM taillights in HDcustoms? I have contacted them yesterday, they offered a ready solution, custom taillights, but these do not have E-certificate required in my country.
Also have contacted Form Lighting, but still waiting for their response. I’m afraid that they also don’t offer the product with required marks, as previously I have bought reverse lamp with the rear fog lights from them and these don’t meet the requirements, so I had to to buy OEM one.
In general, the EU countries have very similar requirements to pass certification, but some of them have some strange and painful rules..

The American OEM tail lights also do not have the E-certificate mark on them, but still you asked if anybody knows if the tail lights can be turned orange by coding to pass European inspection. With that in mind I advised you something similar.

1. Form lighting tail lights.
2. Modify your tail lights by bringing them to a company in Poland called HD Costums.

There is no other tail light on the Mustang S650 that has the E-certificate, only the original European tail light.

So if you want an E-certificate marked on the tail light your only way is to buy the European tail lights.

Thank you for the information provided!
In my country, non-OEM lights are accepted only with ā€œEā€ certificate or OEM for which they do not ask for any certificate. I don’t know if any other country have the same rule. Sure, if it weren’t for this requirement, the easiest option is to order FORM taillights.
Regarding HD Customs. I will contact them again, as probably there was some misunderstanding. If I understood you correctly, they can modify your own OEM lamps. If so, it makes sense, thank you!

Yeah, I was wondering if there are no built-in orange diodes in the American taillights. For example, in Tesla, this option is not obvious either, and Tesla offers to order the European version of the taillights, although in fact the American version can be recoded as well. They are not the only ones who do this, for example some BMW and Audi have this option too. So I had a hope that Mustang has something similar, but probably we don't know about it.

It's not we don't know. There are no orange lights in the tail lights of NA Mustangs. Only overseas Mustangs have orange tail lights.

So yes, your only option then is to modify your own tail lights, and HD costums can help you with that.

I'm from Europe too and we have the same rule about E-certificate marks on the lights. I already changed my reverse light to the fog light. So I know what you were talking about from the start.
