I got into a discussion on the "What did you do to your S650 today?" thread however felt it better over here.

I have a whipple stage 1 being installed in about 3 weeks. I'm currently lowered on Steeda Sport Progressives and have 20" Velgen VF10 wheels with Nitto tires.

Wondering if this wheel/tire setup will be a problem after the Whipple install. I still have my 19" Performance Pack rims that I could get some PS4 for however I love my 20" Velgens and the look they bring.

Thoughts?

Wheel size doesn't matter... the overall diameter of the tire is what matters... as long as the outside diameter of the 20" tire is within 3% of the diameter of the 19" tire you should be fine with either one.

The kit will lower the front of the car barely, at most a quarter of an inch. Do what I did, use it as motivation to lose some weight to counter act that addition 🙂

I see your dilemma now... that is quite a bit bigger... if you had 30 series on the 20" wheel, you would be good. Everything is fine now I take it, no rubbing anywhere? If all is good, I think it would just be a matter of wait and see... it could just be fine.

There is no rubbing right now. In fact, Chris Cervenka (sp) runs the same rims on the dual rate springs which lower the car another half an inch already. Although I think he is running a 275 though.

I am keeping my stock handling pack rims and Trofeo tires just in case, but those won’t make it down to Tennessee and back in July lol

I guess I will just have to be patient and wait to see what happens at Blackstock. Whether the tech calls me and says, bring your handling pack rims because this ain’t gonna work with these 20s or if he calls and says come pick up your car, you’re Gucci.

your running those now with no problems right? So you should be fine with your upcoming Whipple instal. Can't see how it would change the tire size Whipple's are good but not that good they can change tire size. Enjoy your road trip.

Thanks Paul. I am more concerned about the added weight causing some spring sag.

@tj@steeda are you aware of anything like that for the Sport Progressives + 20" rims + whipple stage 1?

I talked to Rodney at Steeda about the weight of Whipple kit when I ordered mine. Changed springs to Steeda dual rate lowering springs and used their lightweight strut brace that goes underneath. I’m running 285/35/19’s. No issues at all and looks way better without the big gap. Pic with stock DH wheel is a before photo.

Thanks. More trying to see if my existing 20” rims and tires will fit or whether I have to slap some PS4 on my stock HP rims

Shouldn’t make a difference. The overall tire dimensions are pretty close on the 19’s & 20’s. I was going to go with 20’s, but wanted a little more sidewall.
