I enjoy reading the comments.
It is kinda fun, isn’t it?

My fave is when guys keep saying exactly the same thing over and over but change the words around in an attempt to sound more erudite.

I agree, understanding why people get so angry about stop start is a real mystery!
However, comprehending the inconvenience isn’t.

I had a recall for my GT to in theory fix the auto-start but it never worked, even after the recall. Not that I miss it at all but I wonder if this would ever work after all.

I only read a few comments but want to chime in to clarify a misconception I’m seeing. The stop/start thing is about NOx and air quality, not CO2 or global warming. Think asthma and heart disease, etc.

Still keep mine off because I find it annoying.
Well it does reduce fuel usage by anything between 5% and 15% so clearly has an impact on CO2 as well. 5% to 15% of global fuel usage in cars is a huge figure.

You do realize this is not a Prius forum right?
Stupid comment!

Porsche 911 has stop start and that isn't a Prius either!

Ironically the Prius does NOT have stop start as it is a hybrid :giggle:

I am glad my Mustang has stop start and that I am not burning money when not moving.

Buys a V8 muscle car ....then insults/argues with people who don't like an annoying feature that maybe saves a percent or two of gas..... and Im the one making stupid comments.....OK buddy

Maybe I dont like stop start because Im racist? I belive thats the next play in the book no?

Name calling! I think you will find you were the first to sling an insult suggesting that I should go on a Prius forum. I don't have a Prius I have a nice V8 thank you, hence why your comment was stupid!

Annoying to you, but not me. What happened to freedom of choice, I thought you were supposed to be big on that  I want S/S on my Mustang, I missed out on it on my S550. Oh and it's 5% to 15% not an odd percent. But then you know that already.

At all stages in this thread I have been perfectly clear. If you don't like S/S then turn it off, but the reasons it is fitted are completely and evidentially sound.

Only you have a playbook open by the way :giggle:

CO2 reduction is a co-benefit for sure. I mean from a regulatory perspective.
I think it is both actually, but clearly different countries have different regulatory structures. Certainly NOx is an issue in cities in the UK and the introduction of S/S and other hybrid technologies as well as low emissions regulations have had a significant impact on this here to residents benefits.

The CO2 is more of a global thing rather than at a local atmospheric level.

I assume Ford uses an auxiliary battery for the ESS function like Dodge does? That's what annoys me; the added complexity to the 12V/charging system. You even have to disconnect the batteries in a certain way if you want to totally kill 12V power for safety before working on it.

Having said that, I've got a Jeep with the ESS feature and 200,000 miles with no failures of the starter or flywheel. And through testing and hand calculation I found that ESS saves about 10% fuel on the Jeep. Not sure but I'm guessing it would be less of a difference on a car like a Mustang.
