For well over a decade now, I've seen people praising the fact that Mustangs have functional hood vents instead of fake ones. So I was surprised and disappointed when they decided it would be a good design idea to make a fake grill. I'm becoming accustomed to it, but I still think they look like a big ol' grouper fish. I really love the car otherwise, but I wasn't eager to buy a black car just to conceal a design choice that I don't care for. (I've owned three other black cars, and vowed never again! 10 minutes after washing, you look down the hood and see a layer of dust).
But like I said, I REALLY like the car, so I put one on order. After Photoshopping out the fake "grill" sections, I think the car looks absolutely FANTASTIC! MUCH more "Mustangy". Here's how I'm getting mine painted after I take delivery. (RTR corner grilles, because the non-grill portions lie semi-flush with the bumper). I will also paint the rear decklid black between the tail lights. (It's traditional, right?). PAINT, not an add-on plastic piece... otherwise I'd have bright yellow peeping through on the sides.
What does everyone think? I think I'll call her "Daisy".
