What are people’s experiences in the amount of time it takes from the scheduled production date to built? Do parts problems primarily affect scheduling for production therefore delaying when production starts? Or can problems also affect cars on the line during production?

We ordered on 6/17/23 and took delivery on 9/22/23.

The build-o-meter progress bar (pizza tracker) website became a daily activity, there’s a thread here somewhere that details the anomalies and what they mean but for the most part once you get a vin everything is accounted for and it’s ready to be built.

Yes.

Looking at your signature and latest constraint information, things look good. It's my belief Ford will schedule a vehicle for production only if (1) parts are on-hand, or (2) they have confidence parts will arrive in-time for the scheduled build.

Scheduled production dates move around all the time. It would not be unusual if yours slipped a few days, or moved forward several days. If it does, Ford will send you an e-mail and your dealer will be notified.

Or can problems also affect cars on the line during production?
Yes.

During production, any number of things can happen. Ford doesn't run the lines 24/7, every day of the week. Your car could start, only for the line to stop for a scheduled break, the car sitting until people return. There have been instances where assembly or parts problems occur while the car is being built, but these events are few. If this does happen, the vehicle doesn't leave until complete and it passes QC. Any extended delays, no one will ever know the root cause, other than those at the plant.

Even after production, delays can occur all along the way.

Trains and trucks don't roll until they are full, both at the starting depot and at every waypoint. For example, your car might wait to be loaded at MI, then possibly go to Chicago, Denver (or Salt Lake city), Las Vegas, and other destinations before reaching southern CA (possible, multiple depots within CA itself). At each point, the car might wait a variable amount of time before the next leg.

Finally, once received at the dealer, they often require a day or two for inspection and prep.

Summer breaks at the plant and elsewhere could slow things. Labor Day weekend. Maybe Columbus Day while the vehicle is being shipped.

It's never been much of a straight line for anyone. But your dealer can/should keep you updated on progress, to compliment any e-mails received from Ford. Unless something changes, e-mails are not sent. It would not be unusual to not hear anything else from Ford until mid-Sept.

Supplier part problems can cause delays at ANY time.
