Cancelled: S/E QLD Cars 'n Coffee: Sat 30/11/24

Hi all

With S650s arriving onto our shores, I'm sure some of us are keen to start up Cars 'n Coffee type meets.
Would be great to share stories, see other cars in the various guises , and discuss mods 'n things.

I'd propose late November 2024 for the inaugural S/E QLD S650 Meet.
This accommodates the deliveries onboard Morning Lily (arrived 9 days ago) and Tonsberg (due 2-Nov).

Appreciate that owners could be coming from all directions, so location suggestions welcome.
My first suggestion would be the Old Fernvale Bakery.

Rural setting, good coffee, and rooly good pies and cakes.
More parking in the Fernvale Memorial Park opposite, along with conveniences.

Allows an opportunity for a straightforward drive there via the Brisbane Valley Hwy, and a more adventurous drive back via the Northbrook Parkway through Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo. (I haven't done this bit yet - keen to row the gears!)

Sundays are to be absolutely avoided, due to the nearby markets being open.
Saturdays, before or after the lunch time crowds.

Personally, I'm a freelancer and set my own work schedule, so weekdays are a preferred option as well.

I'm sure some of the S550 guys would like to participate as well.

Any interest in this?

I'm definitely interested. Unfortunately I'm still a Mon-Fri guy, so a Saturday morning would be the preference. Fernvale sounds like a good place to start too.

Annoying how the weekdays can be perfect, but...

Weather forecast is not looking good this Saturday.
Sunday is worse.

And I don't want a repeat of when I last took the Mustang out to Fernvale four weeks ago!
Got caught in a mini hail storm, one so small that it didn't even appear on the BoM radar.

The whole point of doing a midday drive was to beat the usual 4-5pm afternoon storms that occur this time of the year. Luckily the hail was very small, and lasted literally 90 seconds, and left no marks. The bead maker caused it to slide straight off... that's what I'm telling myself!
Wasn't a nice sound on the roof at the time, although only having had the car for three weeks then, my senses were probably in a heightened state.

Yes given the weather i think i might pull out of this one , Driving back to Brisbane through Mt Glorious is an amazing drive but one best avoided in wet conditions , with leaves on road its akin to driving on ice . If you do it again and sun is out i am allin .

Well, the rain came and went earlier this morning.
Roads all dry again by 10am, but tomorrow.

Cancelled due to worsening weather forecast for tomorrow.

If a Saturday morning is not ideal for you, let's know how you're situated for a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning/arvo. Fernvale is a no go for me on a Sunday due to the markets and all the people/traffic that attracts, resulting in a lack of suitable parking for a group.
Would need alternate venue suggestions for a Sunday.

Count me in for the next one - I'm good for Saturdays or Sundays.
