Can anyone provide me with a recommendation for a good CD player. I am looking for a stand alone player that I can connect by USB.

the better solution is probably to rip your cds to flac with eac(exact audio copy)
and then put them on a usb or your phone and link that to the car to play them

doing it correctly with eac and flac is lossless and full quality as you would get from the CD

Do our Mustangs have a USB port we can plug a USB stick with music into; that can be accessed in some fashion by our buried radio? If so how do we do that (access the music on the USB stick with our radio)?

Phone play option, is that possible with a phone (Samsung A12) that DOES NOT have internet? If so how would we access the music on our phone with our buried radio?

TY!

Not sure what a 'buried radio' is but of course you can use a USB stick with music. You really would benefit from reading the manual for your car!

Samsung is an android phone so uses Android Auto. The car will play music off the phone if you have any on it, either through AA or Bluetooth. Again read the manual - it's all in there.

In a world with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, and phones with a Terabyte of onboard storage + unlimited data streaming, why would anyone want a CD player in a 2024 vehicle? 😅

I wouldn't even know where you'd place the physical unit in this car.

A few years back I took the time to rip my entire CD collection to my PC, I put a lot of it on my phone and play that with the BT connection. I think I will try putting some on a USB stick and see how that works.

So, did you use FLAC to transfer your music to your phone, or something else? My music is entirely mp3s on my comp (no WMAs or WAVs on store bought CDs). Is FLAC or whatever you used capable of transferring mp3sd to my phone (Android based)? TY!

PS: Did your phone require extra storage capacity to hold the music you transferred to it?

As others have said, just rip your cd's onto your phone or a thumb drive. Don't muck up your interior by installing some tacky cd player. I just keep my cds on my phone.

I used an app called Music Bee to rip all the CDs. I then dragged my music onto my phone where I use an app called Muzio. The app has had some issues lately and I'm looking for another solution. I have approx 1600 songs on my phone and have had no issues with storage.

Flac is an audio codec like mp3 is an audio codec... it is also it's own file type like mp3. When you copy cds to your computer tou would use an audio program that can output flac... just as you would use one to output mp3. If you already have mp3s, they can be used but quality is less than cd quality.
As far as storage on your phone... most have more than you will ever use... unless you do a lot of videos. Go to the "about phone" screen on your phone to see how much storage you have available. You can just drag and drop the files in windows to transfer if your phone can connect to your computer.
