Just about every filter has better filtration than K&N. With that said, I’ve never seen a damaged motor directly related to using K&N solely. I have seen dozens of oil analysis samples showing higher dirt in the oil though.Recommend Steeda Blue Air Filter which may filter more particles than K&N filters.
These aren't massive gains ?![]()
Or just leave it stock since you're not gaining anything
But there are two traps now with two intakes, and they don't need to flow anywhere near as much air since they combine to basically create the number a single one did before. So removing them doesn't help. For the Gen3, several threads identified a 10 HP gain; this aligned with the advertised HP difference between the 2021 and 2022 of 10, and when the traps came into being. It's free HP. Throw in a filter for a handful more, one that's washable and will last for many years.
By itself, it will not make a marked difference in performance. Several who did make the changes reported better throttle response, regardless of mode driven.
It's akin to switching from Normal to Sport +. Each mode often exhibits an improved feel. And how do you measure the "throttle response" that people always like to talk about?
^^ This. Exactly. But there are two traps now with two intakes, and they don't need to flow anywhere near as much air since they combine to basically create the number a single one did before. So removing them doesn't help.
Yes, the percentage of difference between the two would be interesting. This needs to be confirmed yet but a simple log of the TB% should throw the results.
an inline non-serviceable part with a known effective life expectancy?removing the carbon filters.
