Top down on the freeway on any convertible may require earplugs obviously.
Can't agree. Have taken our Vert on a couple of long distance highway trips with top down and surprisingly, its quieter than our previous Verts. I can still hear the radio with volume at level 7 on occasions. No concerning wind noise, aerodynamically it seems to be laid out pretty good., don't get the reverse air flow from the back as we did in our 06 Vert.
Handling, is as expected with the PP Pkg., magneride is a nice compliment. Its a Mustang, not a Bentley. Wife is a bigger fan of the Verts than I am, and this is her car, not mine. Mine would have been the DH HP.

Wait for the coup.

convertibles are a pain unless you specifically dream of s convertible.

if it’s just to get into a mustang quickly, you’ll likely regret it.

cons:

1) it will be slower.
2) it won’t last as long.
3) it will be structurally somewhat weaker.
4) you’ll have to replace the top before you know it if you actually use it and if the car sees sun regularly

Pros:

1) the top goes down.

patience is a virtue. Get the exact car you want. No regrets.

and this is coming from a guy who bought a bmw convertible two years ago.

Lots of good points!

I would likely end up trading in the convertible when my ordered car comes in and losing a good chunk of money in the process.
The idea of a convertible is cooler than reality. We rented one for two weeks in Hawaii and probably had the top down 10 percent of the time.

I just like the smoother, cleaner look of the coupes.
Same here.
I had a '19 Ecoboost convertible, and I did enjoy driving with the top down here in Florida, until someone totaled it earlier this year. I looked at the new s650 verts and I just did not care for the profile of them with the top up. I really wanted (and bought) a DH anyway, which I am now enjoying a lot more than I did my 'vert.
If I need some sun, well, that's what beaches are for.

Although, it seems Hot Rod demonstrates the opposite:

Another SW Ohio guy. I have had a few convertible and coupes. My current stang convertible is a weekend, date night car. There is no excessive road noise and the wind blowing on my face and head is exhilarating. Such a fun car to drive.

Why did they compare a manual and automatic? Wouldn't it be a better comparison if they had the same transmission?

of course - the coupe was a manual. And lots of the magazine guys suck at shifting.

if you take an a10 vert and run it against the coupe - same driver, same track, same hour, the vert will be behind. Weight, and righty aren’t subjective. And all factor.

Central KY guy here. My experience has been that a convertible is a complete waste of time in this part of the country. I've had a convertible Mustang and several Jeeps. All of them had the tops up 98% of the time.

In the winter it's just too cold.
In the spring it rains too much.
In summer it's too hot.
That leaves fall as the only season where it's feasible, and even then some mornings are frosty and other days are windy as hell.

This just isn't a good part of the world to daily drive a convertible. Lately our THSW (temp/humidity/sun/wind) index numbers have been 115 to 120 degrees outside. Heat index (in the shade) numbers have been 100 to 105 degrees. If you're sitting in a convertible with black leather seats and the sun beating down on you at an intersection in this kind of weather it is MISERABLE.

Interestingly, have thus far been unable to find a ‘mag’ time showing a10 gt any better.

like I said, same driver, same track, same hour.

More weight and more wiggle doesn’t equate to greater performance.

you run ‘em both and the coupe wins.

Better rear bias may.

I'm pretty sure this would be my experience! Cool calm days are hard to come by here.
This won't be a daily driver but still probably not enough use for the cost!
