Hey all, I like to do all my own work on my car on ramps or stands. Recently I was underneath my car planning out my h-pipe install and I notices that the k-member in front is now covered with some aero fins. On my Mach 1 This is where I used to put my stands after jacking up car on pinch weld location.
So this presents a problem for me since I will not be getting jack rails and adding weight to a car that I want to decrease weight on.
My question is , can I jack up the car to the front or rear of the front jack point of pinch weld safely, then put stand in jack spot of pinch weld ?
Other solutions also welcome
Thanks

If you want to jack it under the pinch welds, there are quite a few options on Chinazon for jack pad pinch weld adapters.

IMHO, I know you want to save weight, but 11 pounds for the Steeda full length jacking rails will make life much easier and far less susceptible to damage.

I have a rubber pad for my jack and have jacked up my mustangs from the pinch welds a hundred times without a sign of any damage but only where the arrows are never a little 6-8” away which is why im asking.
Weight is important to Mae as I will be doing lighter rotors and wheels which makes a big difference when throwing the car around corners and accelerating.
I know they aren’t much but never needed them before and don’t think I do now. There’s always a way

Do the jacking rails. Just do it.

I bent the pinch welds on my Hyundai daily driver recently and that was with a rubber pad on the 3-ton. I bent it back straight but what a pain in the ass. If you’re going to do work to your 70k car, add things that protect it and make it easier to work on.

If you use pinch welds for Jack stands, cool, but you’re going to damage them.

6 years on my 15gt, 4 years on my Mach 1
Countless times in the air doing oil and tire changes, exhaust and suspension work, brake jobs . Never an issue .

Yes, I know where they are. I want to know if I can lift the car a little further down so I can set the car on the jack stands on the points
You can jack it up from wherever the heck you want to. It's your car. I'd stay on the identifed jacking points, install jacking rails, or use pads for the pinch weld points. But that's just my $0.02. Good luck.

Ok, for the h-pipe job I need to do Im just going to drive the front up ramps and then jack up the rest from the cradle point and set jack stands under pinch welds marked spots . Cars up in air and safe.
I’ll rig something for front at some point.
Where there’s a will there’s a way!

I installed the Steeda Jacking rails just to avoid all this.

Now I'm trying to find a solid video on where to put the jack stands lol

Since the weather has warmed up a bit the last 2 days I've been focused more on driving her than jacking her up in the air for some wheel swaps.

You can put them anywhere along the jacking rail you want. Best to spread two on each side, as far apart on the rail as possible for more stability.

Guys, I’m not buying jack rails. Not my jam but appreciate everyone’s love for them.

I am somewhat in the OP situation. So I have aluminum pinch weld gizmos installed and they work well for jacking the car up. My question is, ok once the car is jacked up, where do I place the jack stands?

I posted the pic of the manual with the jacking and lifting points identified.

"WARNING: Identify the correct jacking points by locating the triangle stamped into the uni-body sheet metal or vehicle frame. Raising a vehicle in any other location may result in vehicle shifting or falling. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury."

If you don't want to use those, put them wherever you want. Your car.
