"BuT, bUt, TeH eCoBoOsT sOuNdS lIkE cRaP iN a WeT bAg!" 🤬---EcoBoost critics
I like to joke that when enthusiasts like that complain about sound, it's because they've already lost the argument. They have nothing else to bitch about, which only goes to show how good Ecoboost mustangs are. You and I see how ridiculous it is.

I'd actually buy an Ecoboost mustang if it wasn't for the fact that I want my mustang to be a life long car. So for that situation, a V8 seems worth it.

The most logical and best educated guess is the Cobra is gunna be announced at Detroit in Jan. This puts it on track for a fall 25 release date. https://www.thedrive.com/news/a-new...-is-coming-next-year-can-you-guess-what-it-is

Whatever the variant that was teased at the 60th celebration has to be the next fp model. Ford has to tread carefully because if it's in the six figures, they already priced a lotta ppl out.

Yes there 100% will be.

But just like the Gt500, every dealer will be marking it up. 100k+ minimum

Everything we purchase is shipped in a Boat, Aircraft or by Truck.
The Gasoline & Diesel Engine will be around for a lot longer than you think.
How many Electric Semi Trucks have you seen.
maybe some day but not for a very long time. The Electric Power Grid will have to be completely re-engineered.
It will be vey expensive and time consuming.
How many Ev’s do you own.
I will never purchase an Electric Vehicle.
you can see them Burned up on the Highway such as I-25 a few years ago.
Only a pile of Plastic remains.
what happened to those Electric School Buses?
Most orders were cancelled. They were catching on fire.
No Thank You.
Imagine. V8 flying saucers! Lol!

But it's worth remembering the most badass production mustang from the 1960s would get smoked by a base mustang Ecoboost. The new Ecoboost is throwing down a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds, I believe the 60s gt 500 did it in around 6 seconds or a little more. Then you get to the corner, and the Ecoboost just extends it's lead.

Adjusted for inflation, a 1960s Shelby gt 350 was around 50 grand I believe. So it was more expensive than a base s650 5.0, but slower than the Ecoboost. So we're actually getting more for the money than ever before. A top of the line explorer in the 90s was like 30 something grand, over 50k today, but had less comfort and quality than a base modern day explorer.

The maverick is comparable in price to the model T, and it's actually a great truck compared to the model T which is, well not beyond its historical significance. Cars from the 60s when they were cheap were cheap because they came with nothing, could only last a few years without major issues, and did 0-60 runs comparable to our modern economy cars.

Modern cars are more expensive because they give you more of everything. More handling, more fuel economy, more reliability, more safety, more practicality, etc.
Sounds like some of the same arguments EV owners make ; )

I can assure you… it’s not about the 0 to 60 time …. It’s about the experience….

A model 3 performance is faster in stop light encounters then all of our cars stock and require less maintenance. That doesn’t mean they are better cars.

maintained properly an old car can go 100k miles easily if left stock…

I owned this for 20 years … original GT500 … put down 298 rwhp and 387rwtq while weighing much less then a modern Mustang. Yes it cornered and braked like crap but in all of those years it never broke on me once

I‘m neither complaining about sound nor am I aware that I’m in an argument. But I can tell you that the V-8 sound of the Mustang is a huge part of my infatuation with the car. Huge. Absent that, I’m not sure I’d even bother. I’m a music nut and my Mustangs have big factory stereos but I don’t care. In fact, they’ve never been turned on. When I say I only roll in track mode with the windows down, I mean it. I don’t even take it out of track mode when an LEO is directly behind me. I might feather it a little but he can do what he wants. I don’t care.

I love the wail of a 12 cylinder Ferrari or Lambo and my buddy’s GT3RS at 9500 gives me chills. But nothing for me beats the sound of an American V-8 with good exhaust. You pick the rpm range; I love ‘em all. It’s the soundtrack of my youth and I’ll never sell it out. This is why I’ll never have an EV or hybrid as long as I can buy a gallon of premium. Only exception I make is my golf cart for scooting around our small town when we’re in FL. I like the solitude.

Don‘t think for a minute that Ford isn‘t aware of this too. Why else would they still bother to offer AVE as an option? I‘m constantly amazed that you can still buy something this satisfying in this day and time!

Realistically, it's not what enthusiasts want to hear, but unless the mustang becomes an EV, this is just our reality. Gas cars are gonna become far more expensive than EVs long term, it's already starting to happen with things like the mach-e now dropping down into the 30s, and even more affordable Ford EVs on the way.

Gas cars are gonna have to be engineered to offer ever improving performance and reliability, while meeting constantly stricter emissions requirements. That's all gonna be the case from now to the end of time, those regulations aren't going away. So this means engineering gas engines is gonna become more, and more expensive over time. All while the pool of gas car buyers, and especially gas powered sports cars, declines. So you're having to spend more money to develop these products, yet having to distribute those increased expenses across fewer units. This raises the per unit cost significantly, an expense that has to be passed along to the consumer to stay in business.
except ford takes a big loss on all ev as do all ev manufacturers. Its still a massively government subsidized market or this idiotic fad would have died as they have every time its tried.

Ford's CEO has very openly and candidly talked about the exact reasons why Ford's current EVs have lost money, and how all of that has been radically changed for upcoming EVs. Basically it's hiring all the people who know how to make profitable EVs and using better and more cost effective battery tech.

Watch interviews with Jim Farley, he's brilliant. But I won't say much more, as I don't want to get off topic which we seem to be doing. Good God, you mention evs for half a second and people lose their shit.

Same if you mention a Mustang sedan 😉, which I'm not sure if that'll come before the Mustang that slots between the Dark Horse and GTD (if they even make either one of those).

It‘s a very polarizing topic and always gets the same reaction.

Why would you expect otherwise?

As the title states - do we think Ford is going to make an "affordable" supercharged Mustang in the 80-100k range like a GT500 or new gen Cobra? Not an astronomically priced GTD. Considering trading in my GT for a Hellcat, but preferably I'd wait and save up some more coin for a GT500/Cobra if that's in the pipeline.
What hellcat are you considering?

Look no further than the DH for your answer. Yes, there will likely be a higher performance Mustang coming and probably soon. No, it will likely not carry the GT500 or Cobra nameplate. Ford isn’t interested in reusing nameplates of old apparently. They could’ve easily called the DH a Boss since they don’t use that name in S550. But they didn’t. They used a totally new nameplate. Expect the same for the next high performance Mustang…

Just a regular Challenger Hellcat. The Redeye is just slightly out of my budget. I'd prefer the Charger but they're all Redeyes and are 20k more than a regular Challenger Hellcat.

I'm also considering a lightly used Camaro ZL1.

I can find both cars for under 70k - the Challenfers have lots of discounts right now. The ZL1s were always kind of cheap as well just in general compared to the GT500 and Hellcat, and that still seems to ring true on the used market.

These comments are likely accurate and then some. I’d say I’m watching this yet to be announced car with some interest but I’m not sure if I’d be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to grab one. I don’t like even paying sticker but I really hate the thought of ADM. As a dealer I never charged it when I could so the concept really chafes me. But it’ll be a fact of life on this car.

I wish I were more able to be satisfied with what I’ve got, but I’m cursed with a short attention span. So who knows? I’m way too old to be the target market for this car but the market does love impulsive people.

Just a thought: when this new Player To Be Named Later actually does arrive, it might be a good time to look into a nice used GT350 or even a GT500. Logic would tell you that something new and mo’ better might ding that market a little. But, probably not. The S550 Shelby market seems to arise every morning and eat steroids for breakfast!
