Not great in my opinion.

The price point will be the killer, as well as the weight of the car. Everything else looked pretty good. I'm on the fence about the sound. To me, it sounds like a car that you would find in Cyberpunk 2077, which will appeal to a lot of younger buyers. It does not sound like a V8, but it does sound muscle car-ish. They really should have picked a better name for it... I can already hear "Fartzonic" hitting the interwebz. Based on the pictures on the website, the ambient lighting looks really nice in the interior. It also has something that the Mustang should have had: the hidden hatch.Sad state of muscle car affairs. The only two real American muscle cars left are the Mustang and Corvette IMO. The Mustang being the only affordable (relatively) V8 left. Kudos to Ford. I think this Charger EV will flop pretty hard- I’d much rather buy a Corvette at the $80K+ price point.
I think part of the mentality is the government requires all hybrids and EVs sold in the U.S. to play external sounds. So if the car has to play sounds anyway to be sold here, why not have fun with that idea? Before I test drove the latest Bronco, I was on board with the idea of fake sound inside the vehicle. In the case of the Sonata N-Line, while it couldn't make up for bland driving dynamics, the sound it made inside (an aggressive blend of an inline 4 and boxer 4) definitely put a smile on my face and had me laughing a few times as I put the pedal to the metal.
With the Bronco however, knowing it came equipped with either a turbocharged I-4 or V6, hearing a fake V8 sound left me disoriented. Assuming that V8 sound can't be turned off, what if there was a problem with the engine while driving and you couldn't tell at all because of the fake sound over the real engine?
Bringing this back to the new EV Charger, I wouldn't mind having the fake sound available as an option inside the vehicle, but the sound outside (while improved from the concept days) makes no sense to me, especially since it's a single gear vehicle (at least to my understanding).
Fair point. I just don't think Dodge executed it well enough to be considered audibly pleasing/satisfying in my mind.I think part of the mentality is the government requires all hybrids and EVs sold in the U.S. to play external sounds. It is kinda an odd pitch. Ironically, my favorite aspect of the sound is the techy sound it makes when shutting off lol. If it changed in pitch more, it wouldn't be as off-putting.Fair point. I just don't think Dodge executed it well enough to be considered audibly pleasing/satisfying in my mind.
In all honesty there is quality issues on so many new vehicles.I agree, sounds funky! 83000 even with the tax break still stupid money. We complain about the price of the Mustang! Atleast it's based on a proven platform. Has there been issues with tech absolutely. Remains to see the issues they will have or not. Who is fixing them when they have issues? I know people have mad money but should be interesting! I will join their forums just to enjoy the content. Stellantis isn't in a great place right now. I've been waiting for a grill for a jeep for a week and a half? Also a new Grand Cherokee rocker parts for 3 weeks?
Painted the rocker and the uniside on the Grand Cherokee after it was damaged, when I removed the masking tape the paint came off down to bare metal, we didn't tell the customer, just fixed it smh!
you can't replace the sound and feel of an ICE engine with speakers this so stupid. Not great in my opinion.
I live in the US, MA to be exact. Gas isn't cheap. My commute for work is 60 miles round trip. I put maybe 200 miles on it for fun. 93 octane. I spend less than 85 dollars a week. 50/50 highway and back roads. It's different in some places I understand. Average mpg in the V8 mustang is pretty good, so is smiles per gallon.I can see a use case for it however, I may be taking a job where I'll be driving approx 130km a day for the commute, at that point an electric car makes a lot of sense because gas will start to add up -fast-.
I could see myself in that case perhaps jumping to it, however, I'd probably look at the Mach-e first that charger is -wide-.
