So, I have read and listened to most all the exhaust alternatives for our 5.0's. I have had many aftermarket systems on the 16 total GT mustangs I have owned.

I could have spent $600, $1,200 to even $1,700 for the many cat back alternatives that are out there. But I chose to not "blast" my neighbors (or worry about what they think) or always be looking for the police when I am "playing" with the sound modulation on my GT.. By choice, I have a '24 GT Premium, 6-spd, 400A without the active valve factory system.

I just installed the Stainless H-Pipe from Roush (but Steeda and the others do the same thing) and kept the rest of the factory exhaust in place....in others words just replaced the "suitcase". There are NO engine or dash light problems.

I estimate it is about 30% louder than with the standard suitcase. It still maintains the low end burble, but louder, that you can hear with the completely stock system. Cost was my last criteria....I was looking for that deep burble and a healthy growl as I worked through the gears. That said, I paid $224+ shipping for the H-pipe.

There are several non-active exhaust H-pipe only video's on this forum you can listen to. Of course aftermarket exhausts for our Stangs is always an individual preference. However IMHO the H-pipe alone really makes you smile at any RPM, during down shifts, or while running up the gears.

As I have said on past posts, I am an 18 yr old trapped in a 78 yr.old body. Of course you should choose the exhausts you prefer but I just wanted to let folks know that the H or X pipe really are great alternatives to consider. Thanks, Ken-

This is really helpful. Looking to do something to my exhaust but nothing crazy. I don’t hate my neighbors but I would like a bit more of a muscular tone.

I’m in a similar situation, 21 year old trapped in a 61 year old body. I also have 6 speed manual with non-active exhaust. But I went the opposite way with the exhaust mod, left the stock resonator in place and added a Roush Axle back. Probably same noise level (I’m guessing 30% louder) as you. Sounds so much nicer (nostalgic V8 burble) without being a “neighbor hater”. My thought in going this direction was Steeda posting a video that showed the power difference better X and H pipe over stock on a S550 vs. S650. My hope is I’d get the better sound with better performance. Got a great price on the Roush ($600 vs. retail price of $800), but still way more than H or X.

Also Ken.

The x and h with the factory base gt mufflers sound to me a bit off not sure why. Probably a reslonance thing. Not sure if the premium has different mufflers. Im leaving the suitcase and deleting the mufflers. Will add a full catback when i add headers.

I just installed a steeda h-pipe on my mustang gt (non-active exhaust) and it sounds great. It's basically a louder version of the car stock. It's perfect in my opinion. I paid $140 for the pipe and $150 for the install. I'm happy with it!

I have the Steeda H pipe with the active exhaust. Its about 30% louder than stock with the valves OPENED. With the valves fully closed, its about the same as quiet mode with everything stock. So, its a WIN WIN in my opinion. You get the loudness you want with the valves opened and the quietness you want with the valves closed. I love it!

The H Pipe is a purely sound enhancement and does nothing for performance, correct? Thanks
