Screw on caps get forgotten atop gas pumps to this day! Tethers always fail, and then you too leave it on the pump. The locking ones are nice, but once you're at the pump and you can't find the key, you'll toss it! Be happy, don't worry.

Other than using my own two feet. I don't know another way to walk. Good try though.

He's using the Easy Fuel adapter. How many gas thieves are going to have that?
If they want your gas that will find a way. They are way smarter than we are. Besides OP wants the cap for his own comfort level. Unfortunately there isn't one currently available so it's a moot point.

I was reading on some topics this morning...

We reference rollover safety as to why it can be difficult to siphon fuel from modern vehicles. Another reason is emissions.

While we can readily fuel our vehicles, Ford treats the tank, lines and everything else as a sealed system. To capture fuel vapors created in the tank, a vacuum is maintained. Any gases are captured by the EVAP canister (under the control of the Powertrain Control Module), to eventually be purged into the engine intake. If the system was open, it would be old school: fuel vapors would escape the filler neck and into the atmosphere.

And, a parasitic electrical drain. Other than the obvious (connected external devices, comm, NAV, GPS, Telematics), there are at least two more:

- After shutdown, the PCM runs diagnostics on fuel tank pressure, calculated vapors, EVAP canister fill, etc

- Unrelated, also after shutdown, the Body Control Module is calculating the vehicle's battery State of Charge
