Sorry if this was covered somewhere and I missed it. After giving the car a good wash the other day, I noticed oxidation on the black parts of all the emblems, especially the rear decklid one.

Any of you getting this also? What is suggestion for battling this?

Thanks

I'm suspecting this is mineral deposits / water spots, which is often most visible on darker colors, or this case, black emblems. If possible, can you post some images up of the problem, this will help with recommending a remedy.

Any spray on, wipe off wax or ceramic product with a UV inhibitor (every couple of weeks--take you less than 5 mins)will provide not only sun exposure protection but guard against mineral deposits or water spots (as described by @DFB5.0) as well. Good luck!

That is definitely something on it , like wax.. Your paint is also filthy with whatever it is.

Yeah, this is guy that comes to my home. Rest of car looks great. Just noticed this on/around emblems, so not sure. Definitely need to clean up around it.

There are two areas that I can see that need attention, both I'd treat the same way.

S650 Mustang Emblem Oxidation 20240720-113700

The area highlighted by the red arrow looks like some sort of wax/sealant residue. The area highlighted by the yellow arrow happens to all cars over time, its generally just grime that hasn't been removed by your wash mitt during routine washes.

In both cases, you would need an All-Purpose-Cleaner (APC) and a detailing brush. Do this after a wash so that the car is clean and so you can rinse away any APC residue. Spray the APC onto the badge and agitate with your brush, rinse and inspect. Repeat if necessary.

If the residue surrounding the badge remains, I would switch to a mineral/water-spot remover. In this case, spray and allow to soak for 30-60 seconds, rinse and inspect. If it still remains, reapply and agitate with the brush. Rinse.

As for which products to use, this would be where I would be looking (links provided as a guide) -

APC -
Koch-Chemie - Green Star | The Rag Company (Use this at 10:1)
Optimum - Power Clean | The Rag Company (RTU)

Brushes -
Detail Factory - Ultra-Soft Detailing Brushes | The Rag Company (Safest, start with this first)
Detail Factory - Boar Hair Detailing Brushes | The Rag Company (Heavy Duty)

Water-spot remover -
Gtechniq - W9 Water Spot Remover | The Rag Company

Try a pink pencil eraser on the emblem.
