If I go from from my 275/40/19(27.7 inches tall) to a 305/35/20(28.4 inches tall), how much wheel gap would be removed without adding springs?

that's a lot taller tire/wheel combo. It may mess with your speedometer, ABS and ESC settings and handling. Not the correct way to get rid of wheel/fender gap.

Go to tirerack.com and look at the diameter difference of the two tires.

It’ll mess with these settings, but not to the degree you are worried about. Plenty of people have gone from 19 inch to 20 inch and lived long lives. The magic number to aim for is 3% difference diameter and this change falls within that. Would barely notice a difference, and if you do want the computer to know, one can always take the car to the dealership and ask for them to reprogram the ECU

That size tire is very common on mustangs... will change speedometer a bit. At 0.7" bigger diameter will add 0.35" in the wheelwell, and 0.35" increase in ride height.

So with just your tire idea the delta in height is 0.7 inches.

That means you will close less than half an inch of wheel gap; 0.35 above the axle and 0.35 below the axle. That is not much of a difference in closure from an aesthtic standpoint.

I've got a Dark Horse with handling pack and have done fairly annoying and exhausting research on this specific item on the mod list. I even exchanged emails with one of the Steeda suspension experts.

Long story short (and I'm paraphrasing here)

Doesn't matter whether you are a HP or a non HP your car will sit the same as a GT with the same spring/tire/wheel combo. Your front lip will be lower of course (cause the GT doesn't have that aggressive one the DH does) but the stance will be the same.

Joel (YouTuber) has a GT Premium and is running

285/35R20 FRONTS
315/35R20 REARS

AND he's using Steeda Magneride Sport Progressive springs.

His stance is pretty solid. Here; I'll timecode two fo the videos.

VIDEO #1 - Brandon is showing his dads car LOL

VIDEO #2 - Joel is explaining what his car has suspension wise

MUSTANG7G THREAD #1 (VELGEN WHEELS) - S650 YELLOW SPLASH | VELGEN LIGHT WEIGHT VF10

This is the setup that I am going with on my Dark Horse as I don't drag race or need something that allows me to get the hole shot in the 1/4 etc. The Sport Progressives are a nice street setup.

I believe it will only lower the front lip of the car by about 0.35" to max 0.4" which means I should still be able to get over the speed bumps in my neighborhood (we have a calmed neighborhood lol).

exactly. And his numbers are over a 4% difference. But go ahead and mess with what Ford engineered for the car. What do they know?

Any mod, whether simply changing the rims or adding carbon fiber is messing with the weight and numbers of the car. To act like 3-4% diameter difference is gonna ruin the computer/handling of the car to an extreme degree is ludicrous. The point of my original post is that it’ll be fine and won’t ruin the car at all. Handling is subjective, so it’s up to the user. If you can point me to a majority of the users who uses those wheels and rims does and it messed with the car to an extreme degree, then I’ll stand corrected. But tons of people have swapped out the wheel and tire size

Also his difference is definitely under 4%.
