Agreed, 3.55 to 3.73 is minimal. Thats a 5% bump.
You could get close to that with slightly shorter tires.

4.09 gives you 15% extra.
THats 40 to 45lbs at 2500rpm
60lbs at peak 400 rpm

Old S550 procal would allow 4.09 gears.
I'm guessing once the S650 procal is out, 4.09 will be offered as well.
I assume you are talking about lbs of torque. What did you mean by "60lbs at peak 400 rpm"?

What RPM do you guys think you would be running on the interstate traveling around 70 mph when you are running a 4.09 gear in a Getrag? I'm wondering if it would be obnoxious on the highway.

should be 15% higher than 3.55.

So if its say 2500 with the 3.55, it will be 2875.

From another forum:

" 'll use myself as an example: At 70mph with a 3.55 rear gear set, I am turning 2202 RPM "

so with 4.09 it will be 2530 rpm

Given the MT82 was a 6th gear ratio of 0.622, thats very low.
Meaning highway RPMs will be nice and low.
Should be fine with 4.09 gears.

Pretty much brings things back down to the old MT-82 ratios

First two are 3.55, last one is 4.09

It does lower your 4th (1:1) gear top speed from 160 to 140 though. the 3-4 is going to kind of suck like it did with the old wide ratio t56

Would like to hear from supercharged S550 owners if moving to 4.09's is worth it or not

(chart shows gear ratio and mph @ 7200rpm so add a couple mph to get say, mph @ 7500rpm)

I see how that would be beneficial. Didn't realize the ratios were so different across years.

@LevittownFordParts is showing M-4209-88410 for the 2024 which is the FP 4.10 gear set

You will need the install kit to go along with this part to do the install and get the pinion depth set correctly.

FYI buy an extra crush sleeve just in case

Oh interesting, thanks, so the pinion gear and crush sleeve just incase, thanks!

Going to get this ordered soon and installed, wonder what horrible codes it will throw lol.

you are going to need the install kit that goes with it

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-4210-B3

It will have the bearings, shims, seals, crush sleeve and all the other parts you need

Don't forget gear oil and limited slip additive. ( M-19546-A12 )

As for codes, you are going to have to reset the speed sensors so the odometer reads correctly, and there is a flash for the transmission to get the shift points right for the lower gears value

It is a lot easier to spend the couple of bucks for the spare crush sleeve than to find out you rammed the pinion nut down too far, screwing up your bearing pre load and saying eff it it will be fine ( it won't)
