If you have the PP, while in D you can tap one of the paddles and the current gear will display for a few seconds.
You're actually overriding the auto and going into manual mode for a brief period of time. If there is no additional input (gear change), it goes back to normal auto mode. The gear indicator goes away at that point.

If you do this you are also actually changing the gear. I.e. if you’re cruising at 85mph and hit the down lever you will show in 9th gear. You really were in 10th though.
I’m sure someone will figure it out in forscan one day though

hi, I have my 2024 displaying the current gear continuously. I had to change a line in FORScan. IPC module 720-12-01
what is the approximate build date of your Mustang? I can’t make IPC updates via forscan 2.3.61.

hmm... mine is a May 2024 build. I wonder if it would be worth trying to use an older version of FORScan.

Which is exactly the way it works on my poor ol’ broke-down barely drivable non-PP ‘24 GT.

That makes no sense. An older version will be LESS likely to work.

EDIT: Fixed the date: I use 2.3.60 on my MAR 2024 build DH.

What OBDII dongle are you using?

I use 2.3.60 on my 12/23 build using OBDLinkEX

It absolutely makes sense, if you have any exposure to s/w development. Things get regressed all the time and release notes will make a vague entry like ‘corrected issues adjusting ipc values’ ( I’m using this current observation as an example. I have spent considerable time on regressed s/w issues in 2024... anyway
using an obdlink ex - wired / usb.

I’m running a May 2024 build to your Apr. ’23, but you and @Slothman both report successfully using 2.3.60.

What windoze version / h/w are you using?

It makes no sense if you follow Forscan development. The reason it isn't working is the older versions cannot read the newer versions of the car software / firmware. Ford are not going to magically regress back to older versions just so that Forscan can work!

The 2 other users report using FORSCAN 2.3.60 successfully are 6 months and ~ 1 year older builds.
Is it possible my May ’24 build has a different IPC configuration that is causing the write to fail? sure, absolutely possible.

it’s also possible that FORScan v2.3.61 is a contributor. I’ve sent the details available to me off to support team, maybe it will reveal something. I didn’t find anything obvious in their text log, although I did use that log to make some FORSCAN config changes - baud, protocol, etc.

I’d suggest that hardware is ruled out at least on the surface as I’m able to update the APIM.

Sorry, @smurfslayer -- that was a typo. Mine is a late FEB / early MAR 2024 build.

My window sticker shows 2/22/24, but the "tracker" shows it was built on 3/7/24.

It arrived @ the dealership on 3/12 and I picked it up 3/14.
