Well, hate that I even have to post this but got in an accident in my new s650 today not even 10k miles on her yet. Been a rough day to say the least. But I just moved to the Downers Grove area and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for auto shops?

Check with your insurance company, many now recommend specific reliable, reputable auto body shops that they like doing business with and can deal with them directly for you.

I’m not near there, but I have had some experience with really good body shops. I was lucky to live close to 2x REALLY good shops, both doing custom work. I’d struck a deer with my 1st Mustang and went to the first one. He showed me 5 projects underway, 2 frame off restorations, 1 resto-mod and 2 custom builds. The work was peerless. They did my front end, new hood and it was perfect. The only reason I went to the 2nd one is the first one I went to was busy and couldn’t schedule me. I forget what repair I had done there but it was also, “here, come look at some of our projects, ask any questions you want”. The outcome was also top notch.

There are repair shops and there are really good craftsmen. You want the latter. You want the dude or dudette who will install the body panel, look at it and realize it’s .1 inch off, tear it apart and figure out why, then make it right. The kind of person who will put a micrometer on every panel gap affected. These are the types of shops that produce the best quality work.

When you find the right place, they will return your Mustang to as new - maybe better condition.

I’m a native Georgian but don’t know where Downers Grove is and never even heard of it. But if you’re anywhere near Atlanta take your car to Magnum Collision in Marietta. Failing that, if they’re still there go see Sports And Imports in Chamblee.

Thanks for all the replies! Yeah I guess I forgot to be more specific but downers grove is in Illinois it’s a suburb outside of Chicago. I actually was also from Georgia born and raised and just moved up here in September, so that’s why I just know nothing about the area and am struggling to find a place

I whole heartedly agree, thanks for the kind words and hope! Let’s see if I can find someone like this

I was looking at all of the recommended shops suggested by my insurance company (Allstate) but the reviews have me skeptical.
