So I ordered mine on April 1st, hoping to be one of the first deliveries. It came in on September 7th. I got a vapor blue GT with perform package, night pony package, grabber BL brakes and convertible. It’s a beautiful car and it did not disappoint in initial appearance. I was so excited after driving my 2018 eco-boost for three years and finally upgrading.

Unfortunately, my exuberance was short-lived as a horrendous, screeching noise started to appear in less than 20 miles of driving. I thought it was a break wear-in situation as it seemed transitory at first, but then it got worse and worse and thankfully some of my gearhead friends figured it out. A piece of metal popped out of my driver side brembo caliper and started scraping against the inside of the rim carving a huge gouge line. Furthermore, it appears that the rear passenger side E brake, had some sort of piece of metal pop out of it once again, scraping that rim horrifically. Both rims are destroyed, and need replacement or resurfacing repair. Then to make matters worse, a piece of plastic door side paneling started visably coming apart from the frame on the passenger side.

So, after less than 24 hours in my possession, it’s back at the dealership and they’re supposed to call me on Monday with a plan. Holding all this constant, the car drove amazingly well it sounded terrific and the infotainment is the best I’ve ever seen. I really hope that I just got one-off bad build and that this isn’t a pattern with the new S650. I would recommend as I did that everyone walk around the car with a fine tooth comb before you drive off, because if I didn’t have a picture of the panel starting to separate before possession it could be an issue.

Oh my gosh! Hope it’s all fixed soon and the last time you deal with any issues on her. Fingers crossed.

So sorry this happened to you. I know sometimes on a new model car you seem to have more problems. I know my husband did the first year for the new bodies pilot. Hopefully when you get it fixed, you won’t have anymore problems

That is not good man. Hope they fix it all quickly.

I had a minor paint defect in mine. Due to past issues, the service director came and looked at it. It's a small 1/8th inch divot in the paint where the rear bumper joins the sheet metal on the driver rear quarter panel. You can take your fingers and grab paint that is lifted. They are going to fix this next week. Likely happened on transport.

Thank you all for the support. Obviously it sucks. I will keep everyone apprised as to how my local dealership handles the situation.

When did your vehicle go into production? Just curious if it was an early build or a recent one.

OK, update here and there’s some good and some disturbing craziness. So the dealer was able to fix the body panel gap issue….nice. As for the brakes, it’s like some sort of episode of the twilight zone. I posted a picture of the white double line scrape, and the service manager seems to think a rock got wedged between the caliper and the rims causing that scrape but people in the know say it’s pretty unlikely especially given that I had only driven the car 30 to 40 miles on mostly smooth back roads of southern New Hampshire. Who knows maybe it was a rock?
2 of the 4 rims were extremely badly scraped and the service manager told me that he will deal with his vendors and decide if I’m going to get new rims or resurfaced rims (nice)

On the positive, I will say that they had the car up on the lift first thing this morning, which is less than 24 hours after the situation. The service tech was very nice and understanding as was the first service writer I dealt with, but as always the good people disappear, and you get passed to other people.

The problem came when I dealt with a manager and some other facts. He told me he saw dirt and debris in the rims bolstering his “rock theory”. The major problem is that the mileage doesn’t match up. IT looks like somebody took the car out at the dealership for a joyride. I got the car with 30+ miles, which was already very sketchy, and after light driving around my town I am suddenly at 104 less than 24 hours? We did the math and it doesn’t add up. Also, the rims are covered in brake dust very different than when I brought them in. (I saw the car a few hours ago and no dirt and debris but way more brake dust then when I brought it in)

The Ford app showed that somebody was in very close proximity of my vehicle just before 10 PM on a Sunday night in the service dept!

take it or leave it but I recommend everyone be very careful when these cars are on dealer lots. Take pictures and videos of everything!

Have you confronted them about the mileage? The service ticket should have the “miles in” documented. I would demand an explanation for any discrepancy. It should not be driven more than a few miles if at all to determine the issue, especially if it was a “mystery rock”. Did you happen to pick up two of the same mystery rocks, one for each wheel. Ridiculous.

Exactly this! 2 wheels with mystery rocks in just a few hundred miles? 🤣 Who are they kidding? Your odds of winning the lottery are better. And if there is debris scoring your wheels, driving would make it worse. Unless they put on some other wheels and were "testing" it out.

I'm not familiar with the Ford app yet, but I'd be saving/screenshotting info like you explained.

Man , that would piss me off! These cars that you bought and paid for should NOT have miles like that on them. I would say 5 miles at the very most.

I would ask the service manager about an explanation as to why it's gotten 30 extra miles. I would also request the mileage info at checkin before speaking with them. If they can't explain how the miles happen, then I'd ask to speak with the general manager and contact ford corporate too to file a complaint.
