Glenn, I've been doing Beta for Apple since the Lisa came out. I used to do a lot of programming (personal), but as I got busier with work and Apple programming got tedious, I no longer do programming. I'm fairly good at Unix (had to for my job). I retired in September of 2000 from the phone factory, and haven't programmed anything but an app or two just for myself. At nearly 85, I'd rather sit out in the screened in porch, having a glass of adult beverage, and to hay with programming except the alarm clock once in a while! I trust you're retired too!

I retired August 1, 2007. You've got me beat by 7 years! I did programming but more trouble shooting problems. That is what started me down the beta testing path and the free software and other perks didn't hurt. Glenn

I really like what Ford did with the active valve exhaust. I've not owned a Mustang previously, but have had many V8's. I really enjoy being able to go from mellow to stupid at the push of a button.

The exhaust note itself is great too. It's very hard to not stay in the throttle when it sounds soooooo good.

If you think it is great on the open road go find yourself a nice long tunnel! All I can say is Wow! Top down, track mode, wide open throttle, and at 77 I don't have to worry about my hearing! All's good in the world, at least for a minute! p.s. If you have a vert you might want to take off your hat! 😁Glenn

I hate decision-making so I just stay in stupid. Works real well!

Did you find setting up Alexa and getting it to respond troublesome at all?
It was actually very easy, and once set up, you don't have to use it if you don't want. Nothing happens until you say ” Alexa.” That being said, I just followed the steps to set it up, and it just worked. I am sure there are many other commands you can use, but I only use it to change the A/C temp. I found I was doing it quite often with the top down, and that made me want to figure out how to do it. As already mentioned, you do have to get the syntax correct, or Alexa may not understand. Voice recognition has not been a problem at all. I have had cars where I think the car thought I was speaking Chinese, but in my Stang, recognition is near perfect. Actually, in some circumstances, loud radio or road noise, I was sure it wouldn't work, but it has. Give it a try. You already paid for it. Glenn

On to the screens. I actually loved them. When I first saw them last year being advertised and messing with interior shots I didn't care for them, but once I sat in front of them and drove with them, I greatly prefer them.
This is an important point. Seeing images of the screens - and even videos online - really doesn't convey what they are like in person, especially as a driver. I've found them to be incredibly useful and I am glad they are there. I don't find them annoying or distracting at all. My only real gripe is that you can't display navigation information on the instrument cluster - then again, that could be addressed with a future software update (hopefully).

In general, I have been very pleasantly surprised by the Mustang. I had driven the EcoBoost on vacation in Hawaii, and then I test drove the GT fastback here in Australia. I ended up buying a GT convertible - never test drove the GT convertible before I took delivery. I was expecting - and would have been happy with - a ton of cowl shake and interior noise, but these didn't really materialise. The car is highly composed and the interior is very well insulated when the top is up, even on freeways.

And I'm on standard suspension (not Magneride). I thought that might be an issue too, but the car is still quite composed. For reference, my previous car was a 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 Sport - that car had a much harsher ride than the Mustang GT! Haha. So I'm a happy camper all-round.

kuribojim,
I agree with so much of what you said. I feel it is a far more sophisticated ride than I thought it was going to be. I also don't have Magneride, but I can't imagine it could be much better than what I have. (Obviously, I know it could, but what gain, at what cost?) The handling is excellent and more than enough for my driving habits. Before I bought my GT Vert, I had read about the cowl shake, but in the 7 months I have had the car, I have experienced it twice at the same place on the same road but nowhere else. I am very happy thus far with my car. Glenn

Agreed, mostly. I also have a ranger, and I would really have preferred to have some physical hvac controls. The ranger does a great job of having a physical control for the repeatedly used, basic functions: such as a physical knob to adjust the temperature. I never realized how much I adjust the temperature, even in auto mode, until it was only available through the touch screen.

08mojo,
You can change the temperature using Alexa and it is quite easy. "Alexa raise/lower the temperature to xx" You don't have to even look at the screen! Glenn

08mojo,
Try it, I bet you'll love it! And it doesn't cost you anything additional. Glenn

Can you adjust the fan speed with voice commands? I had a long term Ford Edge rental that had touch screen climate controls and I could never get the fan speed to adjust with voice commands.
