Now I know I have only just got my Mustang, and it is my dream car, and I love it.... but we can have more than 1 dream can't we...

I have always had a sweet spot for Aston Martins (ever since they were part of Ford), but that refined GT style supercar always attracted me more than just the in-your-face style of Lambo's, Ferrari's, Porsche's etc.

Front-engined, rear wheel drive, big thumping V8/10/12 that had a soundtrack as intoxicating as the body - much like the Mustang.

Now their new V12 Vanquish has been released. It is a lot more muscular than previous models - and it has more than a shade of Mustang in it - the blunt nose on it, the rear hunches... and that sound... 🥰

I need to go for a drive...

At about the halfway point during my two year wait for the S650, I started to contemplate what would sway me to cancel the order. I shortlisted the previous generation BMW M2, the current one looks awful, and the Toyota Supra, have always wanted a BMW inline 6. But realistically, there was only one car that would have met my needs.

Having driven a few now, the Jaguar F-Type ticks all of my boxes. Drop dead styling, especially the pre-facelifted original, a killer powertrain combo and superb steering and chassis. Having driven each engine option, only the V8 would have satisfied.

The thing is, shopping used was my only option due to price. I also didn't want a white, black or silver example, or a convertible. Bonus points for a red or tan interior over boring black. So, a non-white-black-silver F-Type R coupe with a non-black interior and a price point I could work with......................very, very specific and very very hard to find. Safe to say, I never did find one because I ended up getting the Mustang.

I still hanker for one, that noise is so intoxicating. The first video is me on my first ever racetrack experience, on a damp Sandown no less. The fastest I have ever gone in a car.

As for Aston Martin, the DB9 was my dream car for years, only supplanted by the F-Type. Naturally aspirated V12, gorgeous styling that I always thought was better balanced the stubby V8 Vantage.

But all of these cars, Mustang included, have something in common............................that classic long hood proportion and wide hipped stance.

I’ve had some cool cars, from r33 GTST to R34 GTT. Italian fiats, abarth and alfa. Now to the Mustang. From the Mustang for me it would be a Porsche, an 991.2 gt3 (the dream) or an older Sc I could modify. Ever since I was a kid I’ve been captured by Porsche. I think I’m the few people who think the 912 is a good looking machine.

Even today I have books and models all over the house, and shirts with that amazing silhouette.

are you really considering buying a $150,000+ car or just saying you like the way it looks?Probably not a lot of S650 and Aston Martin owners around. Maybe Aston and Bentley.

The F-Type has been my dream car since it came out.

About 12 months ago I almost bought one after being frustrated with the wait for the Mustang. I found a really nice midnight blue V8 but was vetoed by my wife due to not enough room to fit luggage for a driving holiday and it was still a bit more expensive than the Mustang and would use all our savings.

Funnily enough I could by a new 2024 F-Type with the savings we have made while waiting on the Mustang ...

I have always loved the look and performance of the Jags. From the few owners i know, they are in the shop about as much as on the road. Makes the Mustang look like a pillar of reliability. But oh so sexy.

In my dream garage.................we all have one of those right?..............................only in recent years have I grown to like Porsche's. But very specific Porsche's.

First would be the Cayman GT4 RS, purely because it sounds more intense than the same engine in GT3. Those last 1000rpm are so harsh and so intoxicating to listen to, apparently it's to the point where it starts to get rather hard on your ears............who cares! I already have the spec figured out..............................in Guards Red of course.......................

The second would be the current 911 GT3 Touring with PDK. I love how under the more sedate skin lies the killer engine and chassis. I've spec'd one in Guards Red, British Racing Green, Iris Racing Green and Brewster Green. Then it would be the red or tan interior.

I've had an early build Jaguar XE 2.0t in the fleet since 2016, mine seems to be the exception as apart from a few minor niggles, its been surprisingly good.

Despite only having 200hp, it goes hard enough and will easily drive rings around the Mustang. Apparently JLR have an internal standard that involves a certain level of chassis integrity that goes way, way back. If you take a peek under an XE, you will be surprised at the level of bulk built into the chassis components, especially considering how small and light they are. I love that about the car and explains why Jags feel so planted on the road, but remain light in your hands.

And since we are playing dream cars here, I'll have a E46 M3 CSL too please. The BEST inline 6 ever made, even if its considered slow these days. Arguably the best induction note ever as well!

As younger lads we may have dreamed about the Lamborghini Countach, a real poster car.

After watching this though, you'd wonder what all the fuss was about!

I've never been a real Porsche lover - I don't know if it's because they all sort of look the same, or whether they sound like a Beetle on 'roids... something just doesn't do it for me.

As a kid I was into Ferrari's - had the model cars, the books, posters etc... loved the 308GTB (think Magnum PI with a roof)

But I've grown out of love with many modern-day Ferrari's. The ridiculously high revving, small capacity engines just don't sound right, the bodies are getting more and more Lambo like...

I think that's where I've taken a liking to the GT style cars, like the Mustang, Aston Martins, the Ferrari 812 Superfast (I still do like some Ferrari's),

Don't get me wrong - if someone wanted to give me a 911, I'm not going to say no...
