My GT had a Wi-Fi update ready-to-go when I got inside it today. So a bit of a delay. Afterward it said it was an ABS software update. So, OK let's go driving. Immediately after the update while driving normally, I noticed the green-red-blue light show in the instrument cluster was gone. Nothing shows up now as the revs climb up over 2000. Absolutely nothing! Thank you Ford! I was about to post a thread about how to remove the silly light show. I know how to short-shift for economy. I know how to drive for performance. I really don't need Ford coaching me on driving. It happened at roughly 1800 miles. Thank goodness it's gone.

I've been wondering if Harleys have all this computer stuff too. Since my Harley didn't have all that. No computer on it in the least. Wish my Mustang was more like my old faithful Harley.

The one in my photo is a 2008 Road King. Even back then it had digital fuel injection. That meant it had an ECM controlling spark timing and fuel mapping. It had an electric fuel pump and filter in the tank. It only got updates when in service at the dealer. I had several carburetor Harleys back in the day. Those bikes ran fine. This bike and all my fuel injected Hogs ran perfectly fine too. I never had a really bad running Harley. They always got me home....

Only problems I had were close to home. Ride it 150K miles. Gave it to my daughter with an S&S 93 inch kit. I chose 93 inch in homage to Flight 93. Thing runs even better now. 93 FXDL. The thing has survived three crashes and a fire. Every time I thought it was through it flew out the flames like a Phoenix. It carries in with my daughter.

Fantastic story! My best to your daughter. My last Hog was a 2009 FLHTC in black. I rode it all over The West. Made the Sturgis run 8 times. My spine won't let me ride anymore. I love the Mustang like crazy, but as you know, those bikes will always be my true love. The Mustang is my nasty new girlfriend. /;^)

Just be careful. I'm sure little wifey wouldn't appreciate you uttering your cars name in the middle of the morning 😇. I called mine Samantha. After this cheerleader I knew in college. đŸ‘đŸŒ

I believe the "silly light show" is called PERFORMANCE SHIFT INDICATOR, and can be enabled or disabled in the track apps... and was probably returned to default (off) with the update.

Sofa King, that would be really weird if those lights were in the track apps. They lit up green to show the best fuel economy shift points. The first green light was the earliest rpm to shift up for fuel economy (around 1500 rpm). Then another would light up green as the revs climb to the highest rpm for fuel economy (around 2250 rpm). As the revs went up past that the lights turned red. Then blue. Then blinking. At the track the shift points are up around 5000 rpm (or even higher.) This light show was between 1500 rpm and 3000 rpm. Not track territory. I'm heading to the garage to check it now.

Well, yeah that sounds like something different... unless there are some kind of settings for an economy mode? Mine is A10 or I would have to go look too. At least it's not there to bug you anymore... lol

I checked the track apps menu. There is a upshift light option. But it's a big digital number dial where you program the rpm you want to use for the track. Then an green upshift arrow comes on at that rpm. A different thing. But thanks for the suggestion!

This feels like a troll, but in case it isn’t.

As some others have noted, this is the Performance Shift Indicator. It has nothing to do with fuel economy.

Performance Shift Indicator is inspired by race cars and gives you quick-glance visual signs that you’re approaching the point you want to upshift. There are different modes for both drag racing and track driving. You can program it to your desired RPM in Track Apps and it will give you the green-yellow-red lights as you get closer to your shift point, then the blue once you need to change gears. Like in basically every modern GT/prototype/open-wheel race car on the planet.

Turn that dial up to 7,000 rpm and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Read this thread yesterday before taking mine in for the yearly ceramic coat inspection, kind of a fun thing to have on. My question is, what's the optimal shift point? 5,200 rpm or higher? I will never track the car, just being a dumbass on the street...

for power its 7500 maybe 7250 for manual cars as many say it feels like a soft limiter there.
peak power for these engines is up top once tuning is unlocked people will be shifting at 8000.
