To answer those who were urging me to drive the manual GT that was at the dealer...I drove it today. It was loud, fast, and fun. It has a personality that my BMW lacks. I may place an order late fall, to get it when spring '25 is here. For those who asked what I was looking for...Grabber Blue, 400A, 401A, GT Performance Pkg, Performance exhaust. If someone wants to try sell me on getting the "magnetic" shocks, go ahead.
If you're set on Grabber, you may want to order a 2024. The 2025 may not (probably won't) come in Grabber blue. And the 2025 order banks open in a couple months.

If you're sold on the Performance Package, you'll appreciate MagneRide. Much like the Active Valve Exhaust, it lets you choose whether it's a quiet drive, sporty adventure, or track day.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. My salesperson says that it will be a while until the 2025 MY is on the configurator. He did feel that Grabber Blue would hang around. We will see. Thanks for the thoughts on Magneride. As one of you said, maybe it's time to scratch the itch. After I got divorced 20 years ago, I put a lot of time, effort, and money into my two kids; I would do it all again. They're older, on their own, and OK. So, maybe it is my time. They both like cars--I visited them last month, and we three went to the Shelby Museum. They enjoyed the cars as much as I.

Your salesperson has no idea whether or not a particular color or option/package will be available next model year. He's just guessing.

I may be biased but I highly suggest the Nite Pony package with grabber blue. Absolutely fantastic combo (sorry I don’t have better recent pics)

Highly doubt grabber blue will be an option for 2025. It's been an option for three consecutive years and that's rare. I only think they extended it because it's a popular color and a new model year. If the color isn't a big deal for you and you're happy with your next favorite color, then it doesn't really matter, but if it is a big deal, then you might want to look at a 2024. 👍

My advice is to buy whatever interior and exterior creature comforts that you are interested in. You can always add springs, anti-sway bars, tires, rims, etc later but it's very expensive to turn a 300a interior into a 401a interior. Go for the AE as you will love it. Trust me. Other than that, determine your needs. Track car spec is different than a weekend cruiser which may be different than a daily. Best wishes.

New member here--Hello to all!

Long story short--When I retired in 2009, I bought a BMW 1-series. It was fun to drive, not super fast, but quick enough, and had a stick (I ordered it).

Fifteen years later, I still own a BMW--It's an M340i. It's a nice car, entertaining to drive in the right scenarios.

But, it doesn't have a stick. BMW is phasing them out, to my dismay.

The M340 is a nice car, but without a stick, it just doesn't seem to have "soul."

It goes out of warranty in 2025. I have always traded in at that point. I don't want to fix it out of warranty, particularly since my dealer is 2-1/2 hours away, and there are no local independent shops around here.

I've always admired the Mustang GT (have owned a number of Ford products), and a recent visit to Shelby Museum in Vegas further piqued my interest in getting a Mustang GT with a stick.

I am friends with a salesperson at a Ford store an hour from me. I stopped there last week, since they had a GT with a stick on the lot. It was parked in an awkward spot, so I didn't drive it. I did sit in it, and fire it up. It was "wake the neighbors" loud : )

So, I am thinking of ordering a GT in early 2005. As I mentioned, the fact that my M340 is an automatic takes some "soul" out of the driving experience. Even my "wintertime" Honda Civic is a stick (thanks to the dealer who got my order done).

When it comes to buying a car, it's worth checking all the details before making a decision. You can easily do this at https://www.faxvin.com/vin-check/locator. This service is very convenient and can help you avoid any potential problems with your future car.

At my point in life (71 YO), I am thinking that I may want to have one last "rowdy" car before I can't; something to remind me of the "fun days" when I owned a Trans Am.

I thank you in advance for your comments, positive or negative!

Cheers,
Hey Moe!
The M340i is a great car, but I totally get what you mean about missing the soul of driving with a stick. There’s something special about that connection you get with a manual. Given your love for driving and the fact that you're still enjoying cars like the Civic with a stick, a Mustang GT could be a fantastic choice for your "last rowdy car."

Hey Moe - Have 2 reasons to reply to you.

1. I owned a 22 340i - fantastic car very refined easy fun car to drive yet it does everything for you. Makes you feel safe doing fast and furious things...

The Mustang is just an all together visceral experience comparing both cars I miss the interior of the BMW but the raw feeling from the Mustang is unmatched when comparing the two.
The Mustang may feel a lot bigger than you think so keep that in mind....but the cold starts will have you smile each time you start it

2. I saw you are in Penn. I'm in Ohio and selling my DarkHorse...before the weather turns come up and get your rowdy car. :)

10k less than any dealer. 25 model is more and the break-in is complete with HP

65k firm
Grabber Blue
6 Speed manual
1800 miles
Handling Package
RECARO Seats
Black Calipers
Stock Trofeos
No mods

ShelbyMilk-thank you for your comments. Your Dark Horse sounds interesting. Though, I have a plan. I just paid off the BMW. Though I am retired, I have a part-time job as a college sports official. My season will be coming up, and I intend to use the proceeds from that, along with my trade-in, with a low monthly payment in mind. I doubt that you will have any problem selling your DH.
