Loud banging noise on my convertible roof

There was a frighteningly loud noises on the roof of my convertible. Ir sounded like someone was throwing items om the roof. I was parked and could see nothing on the roof. The noise continued while I was driving away from the parked place. It was raining but not hard. I usually don't open the roof if it is wet, but I did and it looked OK. Later in the day that terrible noise was absent, Was there something wrong with the roof mechanism temporarily that the electronic system was detecting?

I think I figured it out
i had turned the outside mirror inwards so my wife won’t ding it with opening her door
so that mirror kept warning me of a potential collision
