Hello Fam,

I have been experiencing a persistent knocking sound from the driver’s side of my 2023 Mustang Mach 1, which has been ongoing for almost a year now. I first reported this issue during my second service, and while the service center attempted to diagnose the problem, they found no specific cause. However, I had a recall for the steering module, which they addressed, and the sound briefly disappeared after that. The issue, unfortunately, resurfaced shortly afterward.

I returned the vehicle to the service center for further inspection. After a few days, they replaced the rotors and brakes due to hot spots, but the knocking sound persisted during my test drive. It has now been 48 days since I left my car with the service center, and they have been replacing parts without successfully identifying the root cause of the issue.

The service center assigned a case manager to my case, who escalated the issue to a technician. During this time, I was provided with a loaner car, which I appreciate. However, when I needed to travel to another city, I was informed that I should not take the loaner across state lines. I requested a rental car from the service center, but despite raising the request with Enterprise, they have been unable to provide a Ford vehicle for the past week.

Additionally, communication with my case manager has been difficult. Over the past week, I have been unable to reach her, with other agents informing me she is unavailable. Today, I finally received a brief text from her saying they are still trying to identify the issue but could only provide an update once a week, without addressing the ongoing problem.

This situation has caused significant delays in my work and personal plans, and the frustration is growing as the issue remains unresolved. Given that everything is still under warranty and the service center has been unable to fix the car despite extensive time and parts replacements, I am now considering requesting a buyback for the vehicle.

Any suggestions how to process buyback?

If I need to reach out to my case manager , this is not going to happen as she never gave a call back since a week.

This is the S650, 7G (2024 - X) site. I'd open an account at the S550, 6G (2015-2023) site , www.mustang6g.com , and start a thread there. Mach 1 Owners having direct experience with sounds and buy-backs could offer feedback.

I've not encountered any sounds myself and cannot offer insight as to what to look for.

The brakes I'm curious about. Clarify this point in the 6G forum. Were all four rotors displaying signs of overheating? One? Front? Back?

Service Managers are fighting fires all-day long. I appreciate not everyone can do this, but try to physically stop by and discuss the issue with someone. Every few days, once a day, whatever is possible can help. Maybe even a sit-down with the General Manager.

As to the buyback process, start by studying and becoming familiar with the state laws where you live. DMV offices at all levels should have reference materials on buy-backs, the process and any state involvement.

Go to this link: https://revisor.mo.gov/main/OneChapter.aspx?chapter=407

Scroll down for sections "407-560" to "407-579"; these statutes define the Lemon Laws in Missouri.

Every state is different in the buyback process. Every dealer is different as to how they handle buybacks. The only guidance I can offer is gather all the details in work tickets, e-mails and conversations and compile that into a notebook, folder or some other package. Remove all emotion from any verbal discussion and writings as you begin and go through the process.

Ford will follow a standard process. The threads referenced earlier and the 6G thread can provide some specific insight.

In some threads I've read, the buy-back agreement is painless. In others, it's only once letters and discussions of lawyers begin circulating, the dealer then plays ball. Most take the path of the former.

I would not expect the full price of the vehicle back. It's my belief there's what you paid, minus use. For example, you did use the vehicle for a given number of miles; that has value. The value of that use is deducted from the settlement. Other depreciable factors may be involved.

- Become familiar with the law
- Start a thread at the 6G site
- Compile information into a brain book

Then

- Begin the buyback process, with counsel if necessary.

Good Luck. :please:
