Yeah, no way i'm starting over until I see how they do with the repair. This is a scratch on a body panel, not repairing something from a major accident.
Exactly. Not sure about that dealer, but mine warranties all bodywork/repairs for the life of the vehicle. Get it in writing. Just picked up a car yesterday that they repaired and it included my lifetime guarantee paperwork.

I agree with the others in that you should see how it looks after the repair. You might want to contract a pro body person or high end detailer to go over it with you before you sign. Best wishes!

Obviously your dealer knows what they're doing to have a lifetime warranty. Strong like bull

Good idea, I like it! My only concern would be matching that color. But you're holding all the cards, make them repaint it 20 times until it's right.

OP is likely to overlook issues he will later regret due to excitement of getting new car. He did write a post and ask for opinions lol.

similar spec cars can be found, they are all over lots, mustangs are not selling

We'll agree to disagree. I would not walk away from this car if it were my order. I would give the dealer every opportunity to fix it to my satisfaction. If they can't, or refuse, then I'd walk away. Waiting for 6 months, no way i'm hell would I want to start the process over. I created that car, it's mine until I say it's not. It's a minor, cosmetic scratch, no big deal in my opinion.

At the end of the day, it's his decision to make. I trust he'll make the best one

If the dealer does a good job fixing the panel, the repair is not noticeable, and there are no other defects, then he should absolutely buy it. At least he knows exactly what was done to the car. If he goes and buys one of the similar spec cars that are ā€œall over lotsā€ who’s to say those haven’t had body work or some other repair as well?

Like I said, fix it, buy it and go drive it. These aren’t China dolls that you’re gonna take home and set on a shelf. A hundred different things could happen to that car in the first few months of ownership to ruin that ā€œperfectā€ condition. Not to mention none of them are even ā€œperfectā€ to begin with. Life is short-go enjoy it!

We went to the dealership this past Saturday. We took a look at the repainted panel and it looked brand new. Couldn’t tell anything had even happened. Checked over a few more things, signed the paperwork and we were out the door. $5800 below MSRP.

In a week after driving that beauty, you won't even remember the fools telling you to refuse and start looking for a different one. All that worry for nothing. Enjoy it! It's not a wb charger, so don't have too high of hopes. Although, since it was repainted, the panel gaps are probably perfect! Just overlook all the other ones and only take pictures of this fender 😁
